From a '16 Miata to a '16 4Runner

Hello everybody,

I've been lurking around for about a month but I figured it was time to join and say hello.

Last month I traded in 2016 Miata for my first ever new 4Runner Trail. My fiancé drives a 2000 4Runner and we've had a 97 previously but we love the 5th gen!

We just completed a 6,000 mile cross country road trip but that's for another post!

Here's a few shots:

Brand new and I got the front windows tinted the first week

Why did you trade in your new Miata? I had a 2008 and it was a blast to drive and put a smile on my face every time I got in the car. That's the only car that I drove just to drive for no reason because it was such a driver focused car.

But, I also traded it in last year for a 2012 RAV4. My wife drives the 4runner. I still miss the MX-5. Maybe I'll get their new RF in a few years. Looks awesome although no longer the traditional convertible.

Yeah the 2016 Miata was fantastic, it was actually the third Miata I've owned. The primary issue with the new one is space.... There is no glove box and the center console is only big enough to hold a pair of sunglasses.

Basically the 4Runner I can use for many more things than a new Miata. I still plan on getting another older one soon.... Just not another $32k one!

I still have my '92 Miata. I've had it since '00 and it's been with me coast to coast. I still track it, made a lot of great friends because of it, lots of great memories and experiences. I just rebuilt the car from the ground up.

I haven't driven the ND yet, but have been helping a west coast Miata shop develop some performance pieces.

I came to this forum to read up on 4Rs as a companion to my NA.
 
Whoa. Different ends of the vehicle spectrum. I wanted a 5th gen too, but not having another car payment/wife won out.

My girlfriend traded her '10 Miata for a '16 Tacoma. Not to offend anyone, but I was NOT a fan of that Miata. Sure, it was fun to drive, but not as fun as my motorcycle. She almost got hit at least once a day since people either didn't see her or they did see her and didn't care.
 
I currently own a 2014 Miata and will be trading it in for a 2016 Trail Premium. I also had a 92 Miata for 4 or 5 years in the early 90's.
 
Did the best of both worlds... I have a 99 Miata that I picked up back in April and just traded my 2012 STi in on a 2016 4R Trail Premium last week. As someone stated above, I love the Miata because it makes you want to just go out and throw it around some corners. Push it hard, and it just asks for more. Can't wait to see what kind of adventures I'll have in the 4R now.
