I replaced my rotors and pads about 6 months ago along with the brake fluid. No problems at all but today I could tell something was wrong while coming back from the store that's only 10 mins away. My 97 4Runner felt like both calipers were seized. I had this happen before when a rear one seized on my wife's 2007 4Runner so it felt similar but since my truck wasn't pulling one way or the other it seemed to me like both were acting up and both rotors were much hotter than one would expect from a short drive. I parked it for about an hour then did some test driving to see how it was and drove it for half an hour with no issues at all. Seems obvious it isn't anything to do with the calipers. Not sure what else it could be. Anybody else experience this before?

Maybe leaking rear axle seals? I know it's not intuitive but I replaced "sticking" front calipers three times before the dealer and I figured out it was actually leaking rear axle seal contaminating the brake system, causing the front brakes to lock up as I came to a stop.

I'm gonna lean towards intermittently sticking caliper pistons. Calgary sounds pretty cold this time of year. Perhaps it was a one-off time. But from experience, once you start noticing minor caliper sticking, it won't ever get any better after that.
Both calipers at the same time for a intermittent problem? What are the chances of that happening? As for our weather, it's actually been above average for the last couple weeks.
