Front end shake between 60-79 mph

Read a few threads but didn't reach a conclusion.

On my BMW, I replaced the control arm bushings and this helped.

The control arms are different on the T4R than I'm used to.

I have 90K miles. Would replacing all the bushings help this problem?

Lets hope someone with more experience can chime in after me, but would you think it could be a ball bearing issue?

Check the following:

1. Tire Balance
2. Air Pressure
3. U-Joints
4. Tie Rods

Funny, I just replaced all 4 front controls on my e38 to fix this very issue. When it's come up in the past on my 4Runners, it's been inner tie rod ends.

I had it bad two years ago. I found that each thing I did raised the onset by a few mph. Now it's rock solid up to 95mph, and perhaps beyond, if I wanted to try it. The list:

Rack bushings
New Tires/RoadForce balancing
New front shocks
Alignment

I still have never done anything to the tierods--which were tight, so they are not the only thing that can cause the problem. (I am original owner and sole wrench since Day 1, except for a clutch replacement.)

Without a doubt, new tires/balancing had the biggest impact, followed by the rack bushings, but things improved a little more after the shocks and the alignment.

I had the shakes on highways recently as well, Took it in to have it balanced/aligned and it turned out to be a slow leak in front passenger tire from a nail. If I had just checked the pressure, I could have saved a bit of dough.

I checked everything as I would on my BMW's too, but in the end, all my bushings, joiunts, etc were perfect. Mine was the relatively new tires. There were signs of chaffing, probably a defect from production. Last weekend I tested a complete set of rims and tires off a buddies truck- vibration gone. Note, I balanced mine using the Hawketa (spelled right?) adaptor and a roadforce machine and although they balance out, the vibration came and went, usually worst at 70ish....

Checked tire pressure. All OK

Will get balance and alignment this weekend.

Is there a method for checking everything else?

I had the truck jacked up yesterday doing the Taco Whip mod. everything looked OK. Bushings show age but don't look flat.

My vibration is showing at the steering rack bushings,with someone turning steering wheel and me under it,my steering rack has about 3/8" slop back and forth,next job is that!

Mine was fixed by balancing the tires. (New Tires)
