Front Lift At Home Install Question

So I'm about to help a buddy out with a lift he bought for his 2000 T4R. Back when I had my 2001 I swapped out the saggy stock suspension for the "'99 tall springs" and I remember those were hell to put in the front. Any advice for installing his struts which are even longer?

Thinking back on it, I never removed the front sway bar end links for mine. Will unbolting those relieve the front end enough to put the new strut in? I believe he got the Tundra TRD front setup but I'm not sure.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Disconnecting the sway bar is a must. If it still will not droop far enough, insert a pry bar between the coilover mount and the upper control arm and pry down on it.

You can also loosen the bolt and nut that hold the UCA to the frame. That will relieve the tension on the bushings and allow the suspension to droop further.

Thanks for the reply Steeze. Do you think new end links will be required for the front? I tried to gather all this info from the technicians at the dealership I work at but they had limited experience on installing lifts...

I put the top of the coilover in as far as I could then I took the bottle jack under the rear seat, put it between the upper wheel well and the UCA turned until the lower eye hole lined up and I was able to slide the bolt in. I also used a small piece of a 2x4 up near to wheel well for the jack to have a square spot to sit
Be careful though and make sure the jack cannot slip and sits good. That would be very dangerous

Worked like a charm. Me and my buddy did both sides in a hour with a beer break

TAKE the stock jack out from under the rear passenger seat. and stick in inbetween the wheel well and the upper control arm. use the jack to push the upper control arm down and it will make thing go so much easier!

Here is a YouTube video to watch in advance of the install: Speedy lift install. In the video you can see him demonstrate the bottle jack trick. The trick worked well for me. If you haven't done so already start spraying the bolts with PB blaster or the like.
