So I recently bought a set of 4.88 geared diffs for my 93 t4r 4x4 5spd. Since mine had the 4.30 gear ratio, a hairline crack on the rear diff housing and a whining noise. I did search but found nothing specific.
The 4.88 rear has no leaks. I'm gonna clean it up and throw it in. The front has a leak out of the pinion Seal.
Now is it the same procedure as the rear?
Mark the nut and diff to line it up when reinstalling, unstake the nut, remove washer, flange and seal, replace Seal, replace flange, washer then nut, tighten to marked spot, re stake nut then DONE?
Let me know if this procedure is correct.
I'm gonna clean it, reseal it, paint it, extend the breathers then throw it in and test drive it.
