Front Springs Too Rusty to Reuse?

Just picked up another Runner('97) for an incredible price and am going to replace the shocks. This vehicle spent a lot of years up at Lake Tahoe driving around on salted roads and although the frame is in pretty good shape the other parts that weren't protected are pretty rusty, these being about the worst. I have a '98 I've been driving since 2003 that has no rust all so I'm just not familiar with how much is too much.

Should I just buy new springs or sand these down and repaint? Thanks.

You'll be ok, just on surface. Although not too fun to hand sand springs I can imagine.

The rust hasn't hurt anything other than the appearance. Dunno how many miles are on it but they might be fatigued from use over the years though.

Wow, those look worse than some northeast ones. Look like crap but still reusable. Wire wheel and paint.

Thanks for the responses, I really aprreciate them... They definitley put my mind at ease. Sat down with a wire brush and some sandpaper late last night and they are already looking pretty good.

I just don't know how you guys in the salt belt do it... First thing I did on this rig was replace lower ball joints, took more time to get the damn cotter pins out than to replace the LBJ's themselves.
