Front suspension coilover assembly

Hey folks,

Pretty sure I know what I need for this, but I want to be sure before I head down this road.

I've managed to get my grubby paws on some 4x4 coils from an FJ. I'm going to mate these with Bilstein 5100's, as many others have done. However, I'm not going to re-use the hardware from my stock suspension, mostly because I don't find the idea of using a spring compressor appealing or safe.

What I plan on doing is bringing all the required pieces to a shop for assembly before I just bolt it up to my truck myself. Aside from the springs and the shocks, what else do I need? Just a top plate and isolator pad? Is the nut that screws onto the top of the shock included with the shock, or is that something I need separately, as well?

Just trying to get a parts list here so I know what to order. I don't want to come up short.

shock should come with a top nut.

I would tell you not to be afraid to compress your own springs though, it really isn't that big of a deal.

I noticed when I pulled my stock parts apart there was not a ton of spring preload, nore is the spring very strong. The rental sprung compressor fom auto zone let me swap everything in 5 min. I will admit I was slightly nervous compressing the 1200# spring on my other car, but the 4runner springs were soft and easy to compress.

Thanks for the info, guys. I was mostly curious about the top nut.

Maybe I'll give the spring compressor a shot, I just remember attempting to use one once and being a complete PITA, and sketchy at best.
