FS: SOLD - 4th GEN K&N Intake (4.7L V8), $70, Southern California
K&N intake model #57-9022 for 2002-2003 (possibly ‘04) 4Runner with 4.7L V8.
I installed this kit in June 2005 for our ‘03 4Runner and removed it when we sold the vehicle in December 2008. I am finally getting around to selling it.
The kit is complete, with all brackets, silicone hoses, etc. and even new MAF sensor gasket, purchased directly from K&N. The air filter element has no damage, whatsoever. I cleaned the filter and will oil it prior to shipping.
Instructions are straight forward and the kit is very simple to install. With civil driving, you will not really notice any difference. But put your foot into it a moderate amount and you will definitely hear the throaty ingestion of air through the intake. Outside of that, I never cared to document any mileage improvements and it is not likely one will discern the reported ??HP gain. I purchased the kit for a sportier intake sound and better filtering quality of the cleanable filter element.
Regarding fitment application: The label on the box indicates this kit fits ’02-’03 model years. K&N’s website does not show the 57-9022 any longer but rather a 63-9022 and that kit is applicable to ’03-’04 model years. It also looks identical to the 57 series in the photos. I suspect the 57-9022 will then fit the ’02-’04 model year vehicle but cannot guarantee it.
The C.A.R.B. exemption label (needed for California emissions inspections) was never applied, so that is included as well as the “Stop – do not discard...” sticker.
This kit is in perfect condition. $70 plus shipping from Southern California.
