How well are cross-bars holding up? Have you tested them out yet?

No that is kind of the problem here, I don't have a trip planned until February in which I will actually need the rack. It will probably be hauling a Christmas Tree before anything else! :yawn:
That being said Alex has a neat piece of kit here. It is a pipe that has a universal type end mount welded on, then another one clasps on the bottom to mount the crossbar top and bottom, then is able to loosen so that it is adjustable. I'll have to see if I have a picture of it up close so you can all see how it works. I think that considering Alex was likely given a problem of how to create custom cross bars, they work pretty cool.
They are light weight and adjust easily.
Not sure what the "standard" weight load should be on cross bars, but I wouldn't hesitate to use them if that helps in any way.

This roof rack looks amazing. I wish my 4th gen had the shark fin just for the unique cut out. Are you now supplying all racks painted with wind visors ? Cant wait to be able to get my roof rack. Your work is really amazing and above the rest .Congratulations on another fine piece.

Guys I worked out a deal with a powder coater to do individual orders!
$150 all day long as long as it's semi-black (60% gloss) no exceptions.
Also, I'll be out of town from the 21Nov to 26Nov and closed for Thanksgiving weekend.

Great news...now what does semi-black look like? Or is this simply something between gloss and flat/matte finish.
Any idea on the turn around time for PC?

From my observations of those that really use their racks (Gobi and Baja alike) I think PC may be a waste of $. I've seen how easily the PC can become warn down by straps / equipment etc.
When I order I may do the paint just to get a good base layer but ultimately when it comes in its getting bedliner.

I've done the bedliner spray and if using in conjunction with a primer it needs to be applied within the first 1.5 hours after applying the primer otherwise it wrinkles and flakes off.
Just a heads up...
Was the bedliner something you were going to spray or going to get it done professionally? I ask as the rattle can version is somewhat durable but haven't experienced pro sprayed bedliner...is this any better?

Would be no different mounting anything to rack of a different flavor. He is providing a cross-bar with the rack and an option to buy another one if you need the two cross-bar setting - otherwise you can use either end of the rack as the "other" cross-bar.
The key question is what weight will the cross-bar support - Drabbits thinks 100# no problem per bar. You could also always add Yakima or Thule if you're more familiar with that. This should be no different from Baja, Gobi or Drabbit's rack...

These look great ! One question and maybe I missed it in the thread but how much further above the shark fin is the tallest point of the Rack? Looks almost flush with the top of fin. Just wanted to check to see if I would still have clearance to get in my garage.

This rack should almost be equal to the height of your stock roof rack. I had the same concern and Drabbits is lowering by an 1/8".
