FS 5th Gen. Full Length Roof Racks by drabbits

Just picked mine up about a hour ago, gotta do some touch up painting and get the mounts in, then it's on the roof! I have a 21 skybox going on top. I will throw up some pictures once I'm done

So it's raining cats and dogs, so no install tonight... Arg, and haven't found touch up paint yet. Thing looks awesome and the craftsmanship is great, can't wait to mount this bad sucker

Is it really that dark in your neck of the woods that you need EIGHT aux lights?

lol...I thought you would comment on the yellow factory fog lens...op2:

on the lower grill I was thinking of a light bar, but these worked out well and the price was good. These only push light for fogs...the VisionX in the upper grill drive a lot of light...I don't need low beams with them on - they are 3x brighter without the yellow or colored lenses.

That part was not custom. The custom parts were the mesh across the whole back, the entire rack is 1/8" lower than normal, and the front is customized...front bars.

Curious as to where the height savings came from? Shorter feet or shorter top rail supports? Still adaquate clearance between the rack and the roof?

Oh yeah, I didn't even notice that until you mentioned it! I was too busy trying to figure out the physics behind how the 4 lights up top can cast 4 yellow reflections that far below, lol.

Is there possibility to get removable side rails to accommodate a rooftop tent so it can mount as low as possible? Maybe the adjustable crossbar could then be used as a stop to section off the remaining part of the open rack.

I've got a lifted 2010 trail, and have a rooftop tent hoisted in my garage, but i need about 2" more clearance to get the truck out of the garage with it mounted. I think would get the job done.

I'd certainly be willing to pay extra for that option. Would that be an option you'd consider building?

there might be a way to do this, but it would be take some time to dial it in. Have you considered a utility rack, no top rail?

I had the yellow bulbs all along, but just recently applied yellow film to the lens housing (doubled it - Laminix).

Thanks man! This site is an inspiration and curse.

THe height saving came from reducing the space between the upper and lower parts of the rack. I could actually save another inch between the roof and the rack with new brackets.

Install was straight forward. Though I did fully customize the rack and thus need to adjust a few things once Alex is back from vacation.

In terms of paint I just used a flat black enamel from rustoleum. No primer as Alex already did that. I will most likely take the rack to get PC.

Did you use sticky 3m tape for your front mount or did you just use the foam he sent?
