Ha ha, so it'll be like Christmas when it shows up and you're like "oh, what'd I get?"
I was in the same boat. Just let it ride and about once a month, I'd remember, "oh yeah, I did buy that thing!"
And then it showed up. And it was like Christmas. Except I had to drive to Santa's Redneck Friend Earl's distribution warehouse to pick it up.

TL;DR: Met Gobi customer, he wanted my rack, I confirmed I made the right decision getting Camelback.
So, perhaps an interesting anecdote (or maybe not so interesting, dunno) regarding the Camelback vs. Gobi racks. Of course, preface this with the fact that this is all my opinion so take it for what it's worth (not much, by the way).
A few years back, before I ordered my rack, I took a road-trip and ended up right in Gobi's neck of the woods in Colorado. Like, literally 5 miles away. I had been looking at and saving for one of their racks so on a whim I got in touch with them to see if there was any possible way to get one bought and installed that weekend. They were super accommodating and were willing to make things work but due to weekend hours and a holiday, we just didn't make it happen. No harm, no foul, and I can't speak highly enough of their willingness to help a brother out.
Fast forward a few months and drabbits posts his racks here. I went back and forth with him for a while ironing out details and doing some minor custom changes, etc. Once again, I was impressed by this vendor's candour and willingness to help a brother out. Fast forward 6 months and I get the rack. Pretty happy. A few minor nits that I've pointed out previously and nothing that even comes close to disappointment. But I still wondered if I had made the right decision or if I should have gone with a Gobi.
Fast forward a year (to the current time) and I happened across a bro-dog with a similar truck as mine but done up much nicer. I was looking at his rack in the parking lot and he saw me, came out to chat. He had a Gobi and I noticed that it was rusting far worse than mine so my "complains" about the superficial rust on the Camelback were pretty much negated. He mentioned he checked out my truck and rack and liked the Camelback and said he wishes he would have gone that route. Liked the design, build, and company better than Gobi.
It was an enlightening discussion. One, I was able to squash my question of if I should have gone with the Gobi over Camelback by seeing the two side-by-side. And Two, it was interesting to hear a Gobi owner say they would have preferred the Camelback.
I still think Gobi makes a fine product and don't want to disparage them at all. They were good to me even though things didn't click, and if Alex weren't making his racks, I'd have bought one of theirs. Just a matter of opinion and personal choice I suppose.

My rack took about 6 months from the time I ordered it to the time it was delivered to my nearest freight center, 3 months past the date it was promised. I was ecstatic to get it and throw it on the truck.
Fast forward 6 months or so and its starting to rust pretty good at pretty much all the joints of the mesh flooring with the cross bars. And we haven't even seen winter yet :ybrick:
Overall I'm pretty happy with the design and the looks of the rack over the Gobi racks. I have hauled 300+ pounds of equipment on it with no issues and it has served its purpose flawlessly so far. My only complaint is the poor powder coating job, but oh well, it'll get refinished after this winter

That's pretty much my story to the "T" as well.
But after seeing the condition of the Gobi, I'm not sweating the surface rust. I'll let it ride a couple seasons (rate of oxidation has slowed pretty well already) and get it Line-X'd or something.

I'm not too worried about it either, just keep on keeping on. Overall I'm still very happy about it. Just the waiting period was a bit ridiculous.
