FS 5th Gen. Full Length Roof Racks by drabbits

I'm ordering a SR5 using Costco pricing [this is going to be a hunting, fishing, kayaking and camping, practical auto, have sportier cars for other missions]. Living in MO means I really don't need or do hard core 4 wheeling.

I've done internet searches but cannot find out if the roof rack is standard equipment or not? I assume it is but not the cross members?

Also, I have a low garage door [6' 8"]. Assuming no lift [but perhaps putting 20" wheels on the SR5] what is the total height w/ this rack?

Rack bars are standard but cross bars are extra.

My overall height with drabbits rack is about 75" at my rear wheels. Stock size 17" wheels and tires.

Parked in a garage last night with 6'6" height sign that I cleared with my setup. It was very tight.... When I opened the rear liftgate it hit the ceiling with the ladder.
 
I like this set up a lot. I'd order one today, but waiting for over 10 months just isn't going to work for me. Looks like a perfect rack too.

It took about 7 months for me. If, 7 months from now you don't have a rack, then it wasn't the delay that was the issue. Or, if you do have a rack 7 months from now and you don't like it as much as the drabbits, then maybe a few months of wait would have been worth it.

I am very very impatient, but there just wasn't anything else out there like the drabbits rack so I just took my chances knowing a delay was likely.

I gusss my pojnt is don't miss out on a great product because it takes extra months.

Point well taken. Will have to consider that. I agree as other racks in the past have been less than desirable as time went on. Thanks for the counterpoint.
 
Emailed the guy 4 days ago to potentially order one. Still haven't heard back from him. I understand that he is kinda a one man show but come on. It's an email... I told him what I wanted that I was very interested and asked about the wait time which is not an unreasonable question to ask. Still nothing...

I just recently saw a gobi rack that had more rust on it than it did paint so as far as build quality I'm pretty impressed. Apart from a couple welds that weren't finished and started rusting its still a beauty!
After seeing this particular rack stand up to the elements the extended waiting period all of the sudden doesn't seem so bad.
I do recommend getting the gobi ladder however, it made loading and unloading tons easier not to mention improving the looks :thumb3:

How did you battle the rust issue? I found some rust on mine and it's dripping onto the white paint beneath it.

It took about a week to a week and a half to get a reply. I just ordered mine. Alex said said about 3 months, but I expect much longer....but hope for 3.
 
What is the length front to back of the top row of bars? I know the base section is 88" long. Looking for a measurement of the top section. Thanks!

Still nothing.

Coming up on two weeks now with no response. It may be a one man operation but this is still a joke... I guess he just doesn't like money. Well on to the next one. His product may be awesome and it looks great but in my mind customer service has value as well.

The reported long wait times and rust showing up on members racks is what steered me away. The same with Gobi. Here in the MidWest, everything takes a beating from the rain in the spring and the snow and salt in the winter.

I ended up going with Front Runner. Called them and they answered same day. Ordered a rack and it was here in a week.
 
Hi guys,

During the past two weeks my web hosting company upgraded their system and at the same time, the property managers that I rent my shop from also upgraded their internet hardware.
As of this morning, my email accounts are now working properly.

Will your delivery times be improved any? I'd still like to order a rack from you, but the current wait times I'm reading about or just too long for me.

Drabbits posted. Just so you know his measurement is center of bar to center of bar as I measured 80" inside the bars, not sure what he might have changed. Feel free to PM me if you need anything else as well.

Personally with one exception I think rust issues have been overstated, any steel rack is going to eventually need maintenance.
