FS 5th Gen. Full Length Roof Racks by drabbits

Hey if you paid for the rack in July 2015, PayPal will tell you that they cannot refund your money. They have a 180 day policy in their fine print. I suggest you call them now and file a claim. You may not get your money back but if enough people file claims they say they will shut him down as a merchant so he cannot take advantage of other members. If you used a credit card via PayPal you can then dispute the charge with them. If you linked it to your bank, you may be out the money.

Well he burned me. He has not returned my deposit and he kept telling me for months that my rack was shipping next week. He even said he was backed up because he "broke a rib in the shop". It seems like he has a million excuses. What is likely happening now is that so many people are tired of waiting, they are getting their money back via PayPal and he has already spent the money so he has no capital to run his business. It is a Ponzi scheme and the last ones out will get stuck with nothing. Anyone who wants to buy this rack better use a credit card AND Paypal to have protection.

Same boat

I'm in the same boat as you. I ordered a rack in sept of last year. I've sent numerous emails and called the number on the invoice without success. Does anyone have the shop address or a good number for him? I'm going to be in California and would like to stop by and try to get my money back.

wow that is crazy! I almost put an order in for this rack last year. I got a response back with a quote pretty quick but decided to hold off on buying. Glad I did. I seen the rack in person and its a great looking and functional rack! but the customer service and lack of communication is just crazy!

good luck on all that is involved in this.

IIRC, this is why skygear got banned on TW....

he took so much paypal money and couldnt deliver the bussman boxes...

:boom:

i wouldn't be happy either if i had waited this long and somebody else had my money this long and i didn't get my product.............

or even word back on how my product is doing in the manufacturing process.

i hope he comes through for all you guys who bought racks and are still waiting...

Hi guys,

Just to reassure everyone, production is still moving forward, roof racks are being built and shipped.
Thank you all for your patients and understanding.

Where I come from taking someone's money and NOT delivering anything but empty promises is lying and stealing. To completely disregard multiple messages also speaks volumes...the people of this forum deserve better...period.

I think you drabbits owe the people that you took money from a whole lot more then a picture....a least contact the people (it takes 3 mins to email or text someone, so no one's that busy) and return their money or a delivery date you can cover. It's a friggin rack...not the space shuttle.

and before any of the apologists show up and say"oh it's the best thing I've ever seen, and Alex is sooooo good"...or, "you didn't order a rack so what's your problem"...save that horseshit for somebody else. People are missing money, this dude is missing multiple deadlines, and this guy is not communicating....do the f'in math..

People understand everyone has problems...but no one here is a mind reader. At the very least do the right thing, in private, to those that trusted you, to do the "right thing".

Like you, I have no skin in this game but couldn't agree more. I think drabbits owes the members of this forum, and more importantly those who bought from him no excuses but a plan forward. Such as

*After running this business for over a year there has to be a good estimation of manufacturing time. Take that, along will all outstanding orders and communicate to everyone waiting what the "new" lead time is. Granted this is going to be taken with a grain of salt by most as lead times have only gotten longer and longer but that's a start.

*Continue to provide updates to people who have outstanding orders, "you are now 23rd in line, expected ship week of x/yy" - This will help regain some trust

*Communicate back to customers promptly and finally offer anyone back their money if they want to cancel orders, this not only lets them be somewhat happier it moves others who want the rack up on the wait list.

*If you can afford it try to give some sort of discount or reconciliation to those who have waited, and waited......and waited.

I don't have any idea what its like to run a side business, nor do I know what has gone on in someone's personal life but I do think people need to come to terms with "enough is enough" I also realize that communications may happen outside of this forum and there could be 15 people that are communicated with for every 1 that isn't and we only see primarily the complaints but I am not convinced that is the case.

I hope things turn around and everyone gets their racks and we get to see a business thrive for making a quality product at reasonable prices with good communication

So after months of being absent, avoiding all forms of communication, holding people's money, and not delivering racks in a timely manner this is the response they get? Just a few lines and one measly photo? Not even an apology or offers of resolution. I feel bad for those that sunk money into these racks because it does not sound like he's going to offer you guys a refund. You'll just have to continue to wait until the rack shows up, whenever that may be.

Don't be fooled people. Him posting a photo and promising that these racks are being built and shipped is just another example of him stringing you along and offering you a false sense of hope.

Hire a college kid @$10-15 an hour for a couple hours a week to answer e-mails and give customers updates. Costs you a few hundred bucks and keeps everyone happy (or happier) that at least they are getting responses and some sort of updates.

A year is way too long to wait for a rack but just as a reference, it's taking the big players (Gobi) 2 to 3 months.
