I'm glad that everyone is posting pictures as it is an indication that he is not running a scam. I placed my order July 23, 2015 and have been waiting almost a full year. I think it would be beneficial for all potential buyers if the members who have purchased and received their racks to note the purchase date and the date that you picked up the rack. We all know that communication is lacking so this could give those who are interested a better time frame as to when they might receive it.

Waiting for mine. Promised July 2016.
I am looking forward to putting in on for my wife, who picked this rack out of all the others. It is a leap of faith, as you are paying COMPLETELY, minus shipping charges, up front.
It is heartening to see others receiving them and posting Pix, as others have noted.

Likely not that many more to justify the added expense and hassle to hire an experienced welder. I think a min wage part time communication person would better suit the business. It really is a small market, I know it seems like everyone and their brother has a rack but its not the case compared to overall 4runner volume and the market is fairly well saturated with options. Glad to see racks are still arriving, slow but sure

I see your point. I know that just observing anxious 4runner owners excited about roof racks is a vary narrow segment of the 4x4 market, or wider auto market. I know it would drive me crazy to wait that long, so it's a no go.

Same boat as before. Really really want one of these, but wait time still too long and uncertain. I'd even be willing to set up some sort of escrow deal to get one of these racks and then I'd be ok with the wait time. But that much money up front for something like this, Baja racks look pretty good.

I was able to pay half up front and the remaining half when it was completed. I'm not sure if that has changed.

I got my Camelback rack installed over the weekend and I must say it’s a good looking rack. Fit and finish were spot on. There are definitely some strong feelings in this thread regarding his work, so I'll share my two cents -

Schedule: I placed an order on August 27, 2015 and paid in two installments. Yes, it took longer than expected, but I was made aware/informed along the way. All in all, I am still very happy with the results. From what I observed, Alex is doing all that he can to improve delivery times considering he is a one man operation. Based on recent thread updates (within the last month or two), it appears other members are also receiving their orders.

Quality: The workmanship is remarkable, Alex has really designed and fabricated a great product. All hardware, components and even the mesh floor are beefy. The powder coat came out with a nice gloss black finish with no apparent defects. I’ll keep an eye out for any rust issues, but so far so good.

Here's a crappy phone pic from this morning on my way to work. I'll get some detail pictures up when I get a chance.

Where the fairing mounts, is an easy place to mount other things.

In the one side-by-side I've been able to do, the Camelback wasn't as rusted through as the Gobi.

Shark Fin Cutout?

For those of you who have installed and used this rack, have you had any issues with the design of the shark fin cutout getting in the way on how you organize your gear?

It seems that the design creates wasted space or divides the space in the rear preventing efficient organization of gear. I am curious why the rack was designed this way when Baja, Gobi, etc don't have something so obvious (or at the very least only have the shark fin cut out for the bottom part only). Is it because the camelback rack is a lower profile?

I would assume that it was designed that way to avoid conflicts with some of the other major brands. The shark fin cutout definitely makes the design more unique and stand out from other rack companies.
