Almost made this purchase today =/ sad I really like the rack and price! Guess I will just have to save up and order a GOBI.

I took delivery in spring of 2016 on a rack I ordered in July 2015. At that time, I knew that the wait would be longer than promised.

Consider ordering at least four cross bars if you choose to use waterproof boxes from Home depot like I did. I use four 22" tool boxes and two of the large boxes with wheels. I use six 6' straps from left to right and two 10' ratchet straps from front to back. Rock stable at 70 mph.

The quality is great. The powder coating is much better than CBI and equal to ShrockWorks. The fit and finish is perfect.

I agree that his communication and ETA could be improved, but I love the quality of his rack. Personally, I would order from him again. I am grateful for his attention to detail and am willing to wait for it.

I'm just hesitant with the time frame.... Guess I just get kind of bothered that they mention the time frame is 2-3 months but this thread is clearly stating otherwise.

Where can I find a list of available options for his racks and cost? Also..lead times. Very little information I am able to find.

I can't fathom that it would be that hard to keep your customers apprised of lead times as expectation is everything. If I know that I am waiting 6 months that is fine...but 15 months is another story. I'd like his rack if I knew what type of options and cost we are talking about.

I've been waiting for almost 14 months. All I have to say is if you need it NOW definitely move on to another product. If you want it and are willing to wait then feel free to order one and try your best to forget about it until you get the confirmation that it's being shipped. I spoke with Alex and we came to an agreement regarding my rack and the wait times.

I wasn't to worried about it for the last couple months since I had bumpers and skid plates coming in. It definitely took me mind off my rack.

I got my Camelback rack installed over the weekend and I must say it’s a good looking rack. Fit and finish were spot on. There are definitely some strong feelings in this thread regarding his work, so I'll share my two cents -

Schedule: I placed an order on August 27, 2015 and paid in two installments. Yes, it took longer than expected, but I was made aware/informed along the way. All in all, I am still very happy with the results. From what I observed, Alex is doing all that he can to improve delivery times considering he is a one man operation. Based on recent thread updates (within the last month or two), it appears other members are also receiving their orders.

Quality: The workmanship is remarkable, Alex has really designed and fabricated a great product. All hardware, components and even the mesh floor are beefy. The powder coat came out with a nice gloss black finish with no apparent defects. I’ll keep an eye out for any rust issues, but so far so good.

When did you order? I find it upsetting that people who have ordered AFTER me are getting their racks BEFORE me. I ordered end of July 2015.

I received a text from him on September 19 stating that it should be back from the powdercoater on September 22. That was the last I heard from him.

I've been following along this thread and I definitely feel for you. Totally sucks and IMHO complete BS on his part, especially if a 3-6 mo lead was given. I highly doubt anyone would buy knowing it was really a 12-18 mo lead time. I really hope you get your rack in the next month or so!!!

Easy solution, if you are in ANY type of hurry then DONT ORDER, PERIOD.

Myself, I wish I could be patient ... otherwise I would want to order this but I dont want to wait a year for something that is paid for that may never arrive.. I would go insane!

The same here. Communication is a VERY basic service. If you cannot receive even that after paying up front for a product that can take as long as 6 months to 2 years then you really should be considering an alternative as the person you are doing business with should not be in business.

How many times has wonderful work been masked by these issues? I've seen this happen too many times with products across the board. I can understand hiccups but hiccups that last 2+ years require a doctor.

No. Over promise and under deliver is not the same thing as flat out lying on lead times. I truly feel scammed. This guy promised me I would have a roof rack by August and I have no clue when I will ever get it because he won't respond to emails. He will tell you anything to get your business and you will wait like everyone else here. This isn't bad business. It is a con. End of story.

Time to see if PayPal can recover my funds.

What puzzles me is that people read other member's complaints of longer than promised lead time, put in an order anyway and than complain about him missing the deadline.

The guy is obviously not sticking to his deadlines but I haven't read of anyone not getting their product eventually. Why put in an order knowing there are delay issues and than complain about it? I dont get it but to each his own :typing:

Exactly.. and who orders a product where your child is born at the same time you order and turns 2 when it eventually arrives at your doorstep? It's some absurd shit for sure. No product is worth the hassle so many here are going through. :ballchain:

And this guy checks these forums because not too long ago he popped in to try and sell some worn out rack yet did not take the time to address any of the other shit that's an issue.

So yeah.. Gobi or another brand.
