Fuel filter on 2003 4runner V8!

Is it an easy job to replace the fuel filter on a 2003 4runner? If so, where is located?

Assuming you have a good set of metric flare nut wrenches and some mechanical aptitude, it's not too difficult. Its located on the inside of the drivers side frame rail.

I am not aware of any fuel filter on the 4th gen runner. Many newer vehicles do not have an external fuel filter. There is no need anymore with cleaner fuel and mostly the design of plastic fuel tanks. There is always one inside the fuel tank however and it looks like a sock over the inlet to the pump.

The thing that 04 sc V8 is referencing is most likely the proportioning valve for the X-REAS suspension system, found on the Sport & Limited edition 4runners.

My 04 definitely has an in line fuel filter located where I described inside the frame rail on the drivers side. I bought the filter from the dealer. Newer Chryslers are the only vehicles I've ever seen W/O them. That's one of the many reasons why they have so many problems

I looked for my fuel filter on 4.7 v8 2003 4runner and can not find any. The fuel lines do not go in the frame rail only around it. I followed the fuel lines all the way to the engine.

You guy's are right. I just went out and looked under my 04' no filter. Just plastic lines from the tank to the fuel rail on the engine. I was confusing my 4runner with my Tacoma. My bad, sorry for the misleading info. I am dis appointed with this though

The fuel filter is integrated to the fuel delivery module which is in your gas tank. There is a service part for this although the filter has capacity designed for long life.

To replace the fuel filter the tank has to be dropped - not an simple task and is best done with a hoist.

2004 4 runner limited

My 4 runner was dead on Tuesday. So I bought a new battery. But now it will notstay running.. starts idles fine for a while the shuts off.. any suggestions???

Not a fuel filter. Borrow a scanner at near auto store and see what codes it trows out. GL
