I just purchaced my first toyota, a 85 4runner with a 22re and 5speed. I got it running and everything has been fine... until yesterday. The fuel line in the engine compartment going to the fuel regulator on the back of the efi was dry rotted. Then later that evening the line running into the other end from the tank busted and I ran out of fuel. I replaced the both and no more leaks. Itbran rough and got better but still running rough when giving it gas. Esp in higher gears. And nowww theres a knocking coming from the efi intake or injectors or something idk. I can feel the fuel pulsating through the line I replaced and here the knocking noise loudly. All happened after the fuel line issues and running out of fuel. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced and look forward to becoming apart of the yoda crowd and site.

It sounds like that truck has been sitting for a while. I'd strip down the entire fuel injection and clean it up. Drop and clean the tank, new fuel pump and sender, new rubber fuel lines, new regulator, clean or replace the injectors. If you do them all one at a time it'll be 3x the hassle and you'll end up with new stuff going bad before you've fixed all the old.

Yeah all the lines are replaced.. im going to get a new pump, filter, regulator and send the injectors out.. just odd I drove it 3 hours the day I bought it home and all of a sudden.. had to have sucked something up. I replaces the hanger the day I bought it because one of the tubes busted. They dont make new hangers for a 85 4runner. Or at least I couldn't find one. I had to sourse out a used one. I was going to do it one at a time, try the regulator, then the filter, then fuel pump because the one was good 2 weeks ago. If all of that doesnt work pulk the injectors and send them off to be cleaned... if alll that doesnt work then ill have someone look at it. Ill also check the timing, spark, compression ect make sure its not something else. But it has to be fuel. I can hear and feel it pulsating through the line I replaced into the regulator.
