Fuse #40 it's a doosy here is why

If you ever want to disable someone's 4th gen just pull fuse #40. I was doing some car stereo work on my 07 and next morning I go to back up and notice backup camera out . Next symptom, no ac. Then no vsc no atrac no airbags . All sorts of engine lights going bonkers. I checked every fuse and they were all fine. The battery would not charge (no alternator) so when the battery finnally died so did the engine. I was damn lucky because I was able to use my aux battery to charge the main and get a few more miles down the road . I got home after doing this about 6 times. I printed out the fuse diagram and then after alot of head scratching I noticed that fuse #40 was missing. Here is what that fuse is responsible for.

Anti–lock brake system,*traction control system (two–wheel*drive models), active traction control*system (four–wheel drive models), vehicle*skid control system, air conditioning*system, charging system, rear window*defogger, back–up lights, turn*signal lights, emergency flashers, seat*heaters, AC inverter, instrument panel*light control, auto anti–glare inside rear*view mirror, SRS airbag system

I really thought I had shorted something. Turns out the fuse must have fallen out while I was working on the stereo. I didn't see it fall out. I use that fuse panel for a little storage spot and itvmust have over time loosened #40.

So basically keep a 10 amp fuse in the truck because if that fuse goes you will only get as far as your battery lasts.

So how did the fuse become missing?

Did you pull it and forget to reinstalled it?

My theory is that it fell out somehow. Hard to believe but I def did not remove it.

there is also a jumper fuse which disconnect all the electrical of the truck without the need to disconnect the battery.
its good practice for people to disconnect there battery while working on the electrical part of things, but if you are really good at it, i leave it connected the whole time.

Must be in the inside fuse box <?> No way to fall out of the under hood fuse box.
