gaterose build thread

You got it Matt, I've always wanted to see a 2wd 4 runner try to climb an obstacle offroad so it looks like we helped each other out.

I just had this exact same issue.

Now it sits like this.

I'll get better pics soon

Yea, I remember seeing your thread about the rake. I really like the rake it has now. Looks wise, I would prefer to raise the rear a little, maybe another .5-1". Also, because I don't have a spacer up front and would have to rebuild the 5100s, the rear would be a lot easier to add to. However, with me being at 39" R on 265/70s, I may be towards the max lift with my brake lines :nono:. I'll have to get under there and check it out.

Well... I've changed a few things today, a lot of you probably aren't going to like but then you're not driving it.

I decided to pull the Sway-Away rear coils and lower my COs to level it with OEM rear coils. I'm planning to install some more FJ coils but until then I'm back to the OEM 4Runner coils.

I just wasn't satisfied with the tires I had and the wheel color was starting to grow old to me. I found a good deal on some wheels I liked and made the trade. I'm putting way too many highway miles on for the other setup, it was just too large and unnecessary for what I need right now.

Anyway here it is-

265/65R18 Dueler A/T RH-S on 18x9 TRD BBS RW

I'm going to change the tires over the summer to something I like better (same size though) but these fit the bill for the moment. The wheels are offset enough to pull the spidertraxx as well.

I have some rear FJC coils if you want them. I just installed Toytec rear coils and the FJ's are sitting in the garage. Shoot me a PM if interested.

By the way, runner is looking sick!

Hey Matt. The picture won't load, so I can't see what's the new (old) setup looks like lol but you have to do what you have to do. I'm in a similiar position. Not quite as drastic, but I'm thinking long and hard about whether to go back with M/Ts or if I should switch to an A/T, since my life just doesn't allow for a whole lot of wheelin' at the moment. Anyway, I know I have some FJ coils somewhere that you know you can have, and I also have some other coils that are a bit stiffer than FJ, but not as stiff as any of the OME stuff. Let me know, and they're yours.

Weird - the image code changed. It should be fixed now. Yeah it's tough to go so much less aggressive, especially considering this whole build has been less aggressive than my other truck, but you gotta do what you gotta do when you can't take advantage of off road tires/lift. It should still get me down the trails I use with the current setup

I wish I would've asked for FJ stuff before I changed! I've had so many offers but unfortunately the first offer was a trade for my SAW coils so I lost a few bucks there.... Thanks for the offer though!! If you want to get the coils out of your way PM me, I know a couple guys looking to buy some FJC stuff.

You sir have some extremely good photography skills, what camera do you use?

Thanks a lot! Most pictures were taken with a Nikon D40X but I upgraded to a D5000 (like Zach said) about a month ago.

How do you like the Duratracs as a road and off-road tire? Im looking to switching to that from my Duelers (possibly the worst tire ever)

Not sure if you misread my thread? I've never had Duratracs, I've thought about switching to the several times but I've only had Dueler-HTs, BFG All-Terrains, Goodyear Silent Armor, and now these Dueler A/Ts (which I'm hoping to swap out this summer)...
