gaterose build thread

Got bored and tried to find somewhere to take some sunset shots. Didn't have much luck but this is what I got. Figured I'd share a couple 4R shots as well as the sunset.

I've posted it elsewhere but I don't think I've updated this lately- I'm running FJ Cruiser springs and Bilstein 5100s front and rear again with OEM UCAs.

How did you mount the light bar on the bumper? I see that you changed it from two row to one row LED. Can you take a picture of the new bar mount?

thanks

thanks

I just drilled two holes, I still have holes from the old bar that I plan to fill with bondo soon but have been lazy.

Yeah the double row was much brighter, but I like the way the single row looks more and I added the double row roof lights so I figured I didn't need the double row on the bumper. Plus I thought it looked a little awkward while the single row is slimmer and the mounts are lower profile.

I'll try to get a picture later on today.

Why did you go back to 5100's and FJ springs? I think that will be my final setup as well! What 5100 setting are you at?
The Radflo setup was overkill for me and I've been debating on doing it for a while now. A_Hul needed a better suspension to support his bumper so the stars all lined and we swapped. He got a great deal on a sweet suspension and I got exactly what I wanted and maximized the return on the OW stuff by not having to barter or ship. We're both very happy with the deal.

He is about to sell it and get an Accord.....:tape2:

I'm starting to think you want me to get an Accord... Have you and Zach been planning something behind my back? :wtf:

We took a trip to North East Alabama this weekend for a wedding and decided to make it a little more interesting by visiting Noccalula Falls in Gadsden and Little River Canyon National Preserve in Ft. Payne.

Since I haven't been posting many photos lately I figured I'd share some here. Nothing special, just a few shots of the 4R & the scenery.

It doesn't look that huge, but Little River Canyon is referred to as the "Grand Canyon of the East"

It was pretty much a 21 mile drive around the canyon with several overlooks and trails to hike down into the basin on. In the 70s and 80s there was a park called CanyonLand that featured a zoo and offered cable car rides to the bottom but it mysteriously closed and isn't very visible from the road. Supposedly the owner released all of the animals into the canyon.

The hike down to Martha's Falls was pretty rough

Nixon made it most of the way down on his own surprisingly... He's 14 now so we were a little worried especially with his size.

First off that's some beautiful country, second did I miss the part where you lowered your truck? Or have I just been looking at too many jacked up Jeeps lately?

Thanks guys!

I suppose you've been looking at too many jacked up Heeps. I swapped the radflo setup for bilsteins but the ride height didn't really change.

Great photos man. I like the light setup you got there....you must get a deal on those or somethin? :thumb3:

and those are only two 7.5"s. I get the feeling you have no trouble seeing where you are going at night...

I'm assuming no more group buys? IF you ever do, I would like to throw more cash in your direction.

Great photos Matt!! What lenses were you using?
Thanks Chris! I thought they were pretty nice considering the weather, although viewing them on the browser I realized they're a little darker than I thought.

Mostly just my Nikon 18-55mm VR and Sigma 70-300mm. Some may have been taken with my girlfriend's NEX-5 and 18-55mm though, as we traded off occasionally to keep from changing lenses.
