gaterose build thread

Did a little more work, thought I'd show it off.. Mostly electrical.

First of all I added the '06 projector housings, did the squirrel finder mod, and put in a Philips 6000K HID kit

I got a good deal on some PIAA 520 SMRs from a member here so I put those on my light bar and threw the PIAA 510s on the back of the rack for backup lamps. I don't have any pics of either of those during the day time right now. I'll post em up when I finish up the '06 Satoshi grille.

I added 4 KC 26 Long Range lamps to the front of the roof rack and switched the KC bulbs for Hella Optilux 100W bulbs. The fairing has a "hinge" so it fold up and down to cover the lights when I don't want em on. When I need em I can reach through the sun roof and pull it down. It also acts as a shield so I don't light the roof/hood up when they're on.

And with all this lighting my hood was getting really crowded so I decided to build this platform from some plexiglass I had. I mounted my blue sea fuse box, 2 PIAA relays, and roof KC relays. Now everything is secure and tidy under the hood. No before shots, it wasn't dangerous but it wasn't very clean either.

Here is the output:
'06 Projectors w/ Philips HID 6000K bulbs (lows & PIAA Plasma Ion Yellow stock fogs)

Highs (with PIAA Xtreme White Plus 9005 high beam)

Everything (4 front PIAAs and 4 100W HellaKCs). The pics don't really do it justice but you can get a sense.

Backup (PIAA 510 and Factory reverse w/ PIAA Xtreme White Plus bulb)

Lastly I got some new SuperBrightLEDs SWFLS Waterproof Flexible Light Strips for puddle/running board lights. I used one 39" strip and cut it into two 10" (front) and two 9" (rear) strips. Two of the cheap ones I got from eBay went out; these were only about $15 more but are a little shorter than the others and the quality seems MUCH better.

Any chance you can redo these images?

:music: Thanks for the support guys :rockthrow:

I honestly don't know if I could go back to an SUV after getting used to a bed and towing capacity again, maybe a Taco some day but who knows.

Trying to not redneck it up any more than I have to CrimsonCountry, most of the redneck parts I have are functional. And I've managed to keep the stock exhaust despite loving a deep throaty v8 sound, that says a lot!

Hopefully in the next year or so Jessie will get a 5th gen and I can live vicariously through her with a new build, pretty much done with the truck anyway.

I do miss t4r though, the GM boards are much much different. I barely keep up with em save for a few threads.

I'm ready to see a TRUMP Flag and Rebel Flag flying from the back! lol

Miss you around here buddy. Not that I'm very active on the boards any more but I do still check in often. Just ain't the same now that all the OG's have moved on.

You're right though. The Subaru boards were meh, for me. I tried to mess around in there when I first got the car, but it just wasn't the same. Lot's of trolls in there believe it or not. Even more than the Mustang forums if you can believe that. The 4R community is truly special.

Plans on said 5th gen for the Mrs. ..besides the obvious wheels/tires/lights? Armor at all?

Besides what you said (and what momo said) not much, since it's not an actual vehicle in our possession yet. But yeah similar stuff to what's on the '03. Hopefully we end up somewhere armor will come in handy but if not it'll probably just be sliders and the front skid. Doubt I'll do a rack again (since I have a truck bed now) unless we have good reason to use it. I see lots of good builds on random FB pages so I have a lot of ideas.

momo.75 funny thing - before we flew out to SA I left my Man Card in her parents car so it didn't set off the scanner at security and she got it and carries it in her wallet now to give me crap.

I miss a lot of the OGs here too, friends with some on FB but not everyone. Lots of trolls in the GM forums I'm in too. Don't get a ton of activity on my build, possibly because it's a modest utilitarian build and not a squatted bro dozer.

I tried to spend some time here after I left but slowly stopped coming back as I didn't recognize the builds and the builds I know weren't getting bumped as much since we were all essentially at the boring slow progress stages. I follow the "4th gen familia" page on FB but it seems like a lot of kids with poser rigs or kids kissing @$$es of the poser rigs. There are definitely a few builds I like on there like Nick and Sam but more crap than good.

4Runner OG's... Lol

It's true though, lots of people have moved on, including myself so I get it. I've just come full circle and am back again lol. The 3rd gen section is still pretty awesome, lots of the true OGs still around. More action over there than the 4th gen section.

4th gen OGs! 3rd gen subsection was always too much like the wild west for me :noidea:

Wow you're in a 4th gen now? The world is upside down. I still follow you on Flickr but you post a lot of different vehicles so I hadn't even noticed the 4th gen trend. Looks great so far!
