Well some parts of Tray can be pretty difficult and I am not sure of Beasley Knob. I would always take recovery gear just to be on the safe side.

Well some parts of Tray can be pretty difficult and I am not sure of Beasley Knob. I would always take recovery gear just to be on the safe side.
Whether or not you do Tray by yourself, I'd say that depends on your experience. You may need a spotter in a few places if you haven't spent much time wheeling. If you go by yourself, go when it's dry to be safe. You could ride up Tray, head down the mountain using Corbin Creek (heads northwest from the top) back down to 17/75 and once you pass Unicoi Gap, look for a gravel road on the right. That's a forest service road (Chattahoochee River Rd???) that heads down into the Upper and Lower Chattahoochee River Campground areas. There's some small stream crossings that the kids will enjoy and probably some mud puddles to splash through. My boys are still young enough to have fun just driving on the mountain forest service roads even if gravel. Tonight, my 5 year old told me driving on the street is boring...:banana:
If you're in Canton, something closer to you is Old Bucktown Road.
Look on Google Maps for a little town called Nimblewill just east of Amicalola. There's a FS road that runs up to Nimblewill Gap (to the NW). Once you're looking at the gap, you'll see a road that runs down into Amicalola, and another that is unnamed which continues back down the mountain, to the NW. Once it reaches civilization it runs into Old Bucktown. Start the trip on that end. You can run that one solo, again, if you've wheeled before. Prepare for lots of rocks...no major mud holes you have to worry about.

Checking in from Alpharetta. New to the 4Runner world with my new White 2017 SR5. Been wanting a runner since we got my wife's 03 highlander so I was put on the waiting list.
Looking to build up mine up a little by little and enjoy some time with my kids on the trails, camping, fishing, kayaking, etc... First addition to the rig are some SSO sliders!

There is a swimming hole at the bottom of one of the waterfalls at High Shoals (HIKING TRAIL) you drive in through Tray Mountain or Indian Grave Rd area. It's about a mile or so hike in but nice hole at the bottom of a decent water fall.
On another topic, Does anyone know where I can get a good deal on a set of factory take off tires or almost new tires in general? Just need tires before winter rolls around 265/70-17 or 255/75-17.

I've had the Runner for a couple months now but just finding this forum, and unfortunately I'm up in KY for school. I'll chime in a couple times when I'm back if anyone's ever trying to meet up to wheel!

I may actually end up at Ft. Stewart but right now I'm in Augusta. Been here since 2010 but just picked up my '17 TRD Off Road in April.

I'm always around with work. Do you have a pic of your truck so I can keep any eye out? I would say we could meet up and ride some trails... but there aren't really any around that are close.
If either of you guys want to meet up, let me know. I haven't had a chance to meet anyone yet on this forum as most of them aren't around Savannah.
