I second ndcent--if you arrive too late in the cycle, it will wait until a fresh cycle to give a green. Another thing to look for (in daylight) are cut sections in the asphalt, usually large squares or diamonds--these are where the sensors are buried, and will often trip the arrow if you stop directly over them. They're set back a ways from the light, so heavier traffic will always get an arrow, when just one or two vehicles may not.

magnets don`t work. I probably tried every damn thing -none of them work.
don`t wsaste your money on that. traffic light not working correctly meant you don`t have to obey defective equipment. I`d just wait for one full cycle- verify that I can make a turn safely and go.
flashing highbeams only can help if you do it at the same frequency as emergency vehicles lights. only it you can see cola can sized box usually seating on beam holding traffic light. once I tried canon flash programmed to 10Hz and it works in 90%cases but it bulky and illegal to use one.

Agreed! I'm sure that a lot of us first gen owners have this same issue even with a normal working light. With a light weight (meaning less steel to trip the sensors) lifted vehicle, the sensors don't always "see" our 4runners. I find myself running red lights a few times a week. I have seen the cameras take my picture and I have yet to get a ticket in the mail. I think that the officials that review the cameras acknowledge this and let it go. As long as you make an attempt to obey the traffic laws and proceed with safety I doubt you'll have an issue.

I took an Abate class before getting my motorcycle license, and they told us that no cops would give you crap for going on a red if the light sensor doesn't think you are there. it happened to me all the time. So I would assume that the same goes for vehicles that don't trip the sensors.

I back up and move forward at every light if I'm the only car there, it triggers the sensor and thinks theres a lot of cars.

i watched a civic sit and get skipped 3 times at this light before he actually went on the red haha

the sensors at the light work, i approach "late" because it knew i was coming and started changing but when i stop it thinks i left haha it changes the same way everytime it will only change if i go in reverse and pull foward again

not that any of this really matters i just thought it was funny because ive never had it happen to me before
