Getting at that 95 fuel filter

I recently had a gas leak from the send unit piping on the top of my gas tank. After removing the tank, the rusted fuel line coming from the tank to filter broke at the fitting and i have to replace the line, and the fuel filter while I'm at it.

I've gotten the fitting closer to the tank un fastened, but I have no idea how i'm gonna reach the other one on the left side (engine side) of the filter.

Is there a trick, something else to remove?

I don't want to wreck the line going to the engine.

I just had same problem recently with fuel filter. I cut the metal line up by right front tire with pipe cutting tool and ran a rubber hose from there to the front of the fuel filter. Just got a fitting from local parts store and put a clamp on hose at both ends. I used high pressure fuel hose I think its good to 60psi which is way more than that will ever see!! Hope this helps

Could go this route but I'd Fab up something so nothing can get caught on that hose

Fuel SAga continues

OK, some wonderful soul went american for 5 inches from the back on the fuel filter to the main fuel line to the engine, splicing in 3 inches of fuel line. So now i have 6 wrenches to use, of which zero fit into any space near the fuel filter.

The parking brake cable has been moved out of the way.
The filter and casing is still on the truck.
The gas tank has been removed, sending unit and pump replaced.
The fuel line from the tank to the filter has been removed. ( it broke on the way out)
Two questions:

1. How do you incert into place the new OEM metal fuel line that runs from the tank to the filter?
2. If I can get the shield off the filter, can I twist off the filter from the fitting while holding the remaining line behind it steady with a wrench?

Actually, you may be surprised what pressures a port fuel injection system runs--many of them run over 60 psi. Throttle body set-ups are the lower pressure systems, with around 15-20 psi. You might want to double check your specs, Joe.

Very true on the pressure thing but generally your high pressure is after your fuel pressure regulator and on this model it is low psi from tank to pressure regulator.
