Gobi Ladder ?

For those of you that have a Gobi ladder, have yall upgrade your lift supports to compensate for the extra weight? If so, what kind/size did you go with?

EAD Offroad sells them in pairs, but they want $135 for a set, which is a little ridiculous and they dont list what they are rated for, poundage wise.

Any help would be great, I hate the gate not opening by itself anymore.

I purchased some strong arm supports for mine before I got the brand x ladder, they were way stronger than OEM at first but have some problems because of the way they mount.

They use clips like toolbox and most universal struts while the OEM struts are bolted on in two spots. I've had two sets of the strong arm's clips get too loose. This allows the lower ball to occasionally slip out and make a lot of noise and I believe it has messed up my weather seal on the window. If the EAD struts mount that way, I wouldn't buy them.

I've contacted a few lift strut companies and they all say nothing is available stronger that will fit, but one company did say there was a high demand and they were working on something custom.

I hope they make something soon. It's not a huge deal but it's kind of annoying when you are used to something different.

You sure EAD makes struts for 4th gens?

All I saw was '09-up 5th gens (obviously a misprint); I was told that the 5th gen struts wouldn't work on the 4ths.

Hmm I really didn't read it that well. I guess not though.

May just hit up o'reilly and see if they have something the same size with a higher weight rating.

Good luck, the struts have an odd design and I've checked all local stores and emailed all the major strut manufacturers and haven't had any luck. New OEM struts are like $140.

if I remember correctly the OEM ones (and the strong arm ones I have) are rated at 200lbs. Whatever the rating is, it's only about 10-15# under the highest rating available in any of those diameter struts.
