ALSO forgot to mention, first of all thank you buddy for organizing this for us. Secondly, the GB will be running for 30 days so let's say until March 26 I assume.

When I spoke to Sandra two days ago she said they have quite a few orders to finish. We all know group buys increase wait times because they are inundated with orders. If you need this rack within the next month or maybe even within 2 months I suggest you seek an alternative solution because you will not get your rack. Words from her mouth not mine.

I called Gobi and got some answers for you cavemen:

1. Cross bars - you can order permanent or removable. No extra cost.
2. If the bars are removable the mesh floor will be fully covered. No extra cost.
3. Fairing is included - No extra cost
4. Payment is handled by the designated distributor (Sandra said Trail Duty) so it is up to them if they want half up front/half when it shipped, 100% up front etc.... Call them and ask.
5. Roof Rack - Ladder - Fairing - Free Shipping are all in the price of $1449.
6. The extra freebee is your choice of Choice of (1) Mount/Accessory (Sun roof insert or Ax/Shovel attachment or High lift jack attachment or Rear Gas Springs or ARB Awning brackets or GOBI Tool box
7. There are already (2) tabs built into the rear of the rack

These 2 tabs you speak of, they are for lights? Are there any tabs for lights on the side of the rack?

The 2 rear tabs are for rear facing lights.

There are no tabs for lights on the side.

You can use tube-mounts for them.

The standard rack comes setup for 4 6" rigid lights up front and 2 universal lights in the back or are the front tabs universal as well?

This is my guess but you should call for clarification. If the cross bars are permanent there will be the same 2 openings. The opening over the sun roof and the opening below the cross bar at the rear.

If the cross bars are removable there will only be one opening which will be the sun roof. The opening at the rear under the crossbar will be covered.

If somebody can correct me if I am wrong I would appreciate it but I think thats what the difference is between Gobi and Whitson. Gobi always has the sun roof opening and the only way to cover it is with the sun roof insert. Whitson on the other hand will cover the entire area for $50 unless you choose not to have full mesh flooring and pay for the sun roof insert.

Important note about sunroofs: If you select no sunroof below the rack deck will be covered all the way to the front. The sunroof insert is only needed if you want an opening for the sunroof. If you do not have a sunroof or do not want a sunroof opening you do NOT need the optional sunroof insert.

From reading other threads, I believe when they include permanent cross bars, there isn't mesh behind the back bar. I'm not entirely confident saying this so you'll definitely want to fact check.

3) If you pick "40in light bar ready", the 2 vertical bars circled in GREEN will be omitted, so a 40in Rigid E or SR will fit nicely there (some other brands should too)

(this particular rack is NOT for gen5 4runners, so don't be alerted to see the mesh at the shark-fin location; that mesh will not be there for the gen5 4runners')

Moto69Joe, you will specify all those details when you actually place your order. This GB may have a quota, and may close anytime even before the end date. Getting on the list will guarantee you a spot.

I will be contacting whoever is on the list in the next few days. We do not need to wait till the GB to close before putting in the order. And the delivery will be on first-order-first-delivery. Are the rear gas springs required for the back door to stay open with the ladder attached, or is this something the factory springs can handle?

I ask because I would rather get the sun roof insert if I can get away with running with stock springs.

I've heard our shocks on the 14' can handle the extra weight of the Gobi ladder and I've heard of people with 14's having to replace them as well. I'm going to replace them just to be safe.
