Please? Haha here is my set up.. 4 e2 rigid up front, removable cross bars

I like that MUCH better than a 40" light bar!!!

Received and installed mine. Haven't decided if I'm going to use the ladder.

If you are actually going to use your roof rack, the ladder is VERY nice. It allows you to use the rack to the fullest. The gobi rack is strong enough for you to actually walk around on it, so you can climb on top of the rack to strap things down etc... and the ladder will make it easier/possible to climb onto the rack.

I'm going to hang onto the ladder for now and see if I need it. With my stock rack I could stand on my running boards a secure items on top. For my kayaks I would have to use a step stool put I don't think a ladder on the back will help me load my kayaks.

patch so you got the non-40" light bar version which has the two vertical supports in the front? What model E2 lights are they and how do they mount to the rack? Did Gobi supply those individual brackets or is that a Rigid supplied bracket?

Those that have installed the ladders, will the rear hatch stay up with the weight of the ladder with the factory struts or do you have to to have the stronger struts to keep them up? Im not worried about having to give them a little assist to raise it up as long as it stays up on its own with the factory struts.

Yes I got the regular rack, it has the two vertical bars. The lights are rigid industries e2 6". I emailed sandra from gobi and asked if these would work, she said she would include the brackets in my order and there was no extra charge.. pretty cool of them. I think it ends up costing more than a 40" bar. But I like the individual lights better, I'm not a fan of then big bar, plus it looks different. I think I have to take the lights off to install the fairing I'll take some pics of the bracket then if you want.

Mine stays up just fine. It definitely needs some assistance raising it now, but once it is up it stays there.

The concern and from what I understand from those with past experience is that the factory liftgate struts are initially sufficient with some opening assistance, but over a short time the extra weight of the ladder will cause them to wear prematurely thus not being able to support the open hatch.

I picked up a set of Gobi struts with my rack and damn glad I did. They are sized to accommodate for extra ladder weight and take maybe 5 minutes to install. No assistance required after hitting the button to open, and no need for lat pulldowns at the gym after heaving it shut a few times.

Received and installed mine. Haven't decided if I'm going to use the ladder.

I traded in my ladder for the Hi-Lift mount. I figured if I was going to get a rear bumper I can just ask billy from brute force fab to fabricate a ladder into the swing out, kind of like slee rear bumpers for the FJ80.

Jicko, can you update the first page of this thread with whom has received their racks? This would allow us to gauge how much longer until the rest of us hear from the shipping company. Thanks.

There weren't a requirement for members to update me when they receive their racks, so how am I supposed to track?

Sandra did give me a call today, saying that they are working REALLY hard to try to complete our order. She apologize for the delay, but they got hit with our 50 racks order, plus another 50racks of spring rush.... so just the 4Runner racks, they are working on more than 100 of them. They are nice enough to allow for a lot of customizations that also extended the lead time.

Basically, for our group buy, please expect 8-12 weeks of lead time instead of 6-8. The freight company that they use also have standard delivery routes and day of the week delivery restrictions for certain part of the country, so after the rack is shipped, please expect as much as 5-10 business days.

So, in short, please don't get too worked up about the delay, and it will come when it comes.

PLEASE try not to call in and bombard the poor 1 person customer service/sales department - Sandra. She and the company had really been working hard.

For the sales volume that they have these days, they don't really need to entertain a nice GB like this with us. Originally, they were only to let me order 20 racks, but due to the fact that it is so popular, I went back and beg them to take more, that's may be one of the main reason why the original 6-8 weeks estimate is off. I apologize, but the alternative is that anyone beyond #20 on the list will NOT be able to participate.

Lastly, if we are behaving and pressuring them like this, there WILL NOT BE another group buy with Gobi in the future, they are considering not doing these "special offerings" any longer, due to members being "hard to work with" and "unreasonable" (calling in to cancel like 6 weeks into the production, calling them every 2 or 3 days and asking "are we there yet", etc..). You guys will ruin it for everyone coming after us. :-(

Please be considerate. I know there are delays, I know that everyone are anxious to get their hands on this fine product. But, there are pros/cons about group buys. If you can't be mature enough to play in this playing field, consider not to take advantages of group buys.

While I agree with most of what you are getting at, I dont think its being "hard to work with" to request the status updates. We were told 6-8 weeks, but I think most of us understood that the 6 was very unlikely, and the 8 was unlikely at best. Now it you look at the current projection of 8-12, thats a pretty drastic change. If they don't want to do group buys I am ok with that but don't commit to something, not be able to get it done, and then complain about people that want to know where there product is. I think GOBI could do themselves a favour by either updating you, or each one of us individually. Even if its just to say, we are still working on it. I dont want to sound ungrateful because I think it's a good price for a good product; I just dont know how many of us in our daily lives could be off 33% and not expect people to get anxious.

They did come back and apologize for the delay. They are expecting to finish and be able to ship all the order 8 weeks after the close of the GB. The GB ended end of March (and some people may have ordered as early as beginning of March, therefore I said, up to 12 weeks).

The "hard to work with" comments are towards those who call them every few days and those who tried to cancel their order like 7 weeks after they placed their order.

I do feel that there is definitely room for improvements and expectation settings. If they are to do this in the future (hopefully they still do, and the bridge wasn't burnt), I will work with them to make sure that expectation is set correctly, so that people don't get all worked up.

When did you place your order and what modifications did you ask for on the rack if any?

March 20th. No modifications, and this wasn't a post to complain about the time. I understand it's extremely difficult to get this kind of order out, but they should also have known that. My only problem is that if they don't want people calling, and they are threatening not doing group buys because of customers pestering them, than just say it will be 12 weeks and if we got it before great, if not they built in enough time for delays.
