GOBI Roof Rack *Group Buy* Winter 2016

Yup, I'm going to call tomorrow too.

Soo here is the million dollar question for everyone.

There is a local seller on craigslist who is selling his rack for $1100. I haven't seen it yet, but told him I would buy it. But I would have to rent a truck to get it and I may need to buy the transfer kit (which alone sells for like $90). I also won't get the "free accessory" but he will give me the support struts.

Do I buy new and get the free accessory + wait like 16 weeks? Or do I buy this guy's for $1100 for a rack with no accessory but still have to rent a truck and drive to him (like 45 mins away) to pick it up?

To me it seems like I am saving like only $150 ~ $200 if I buy used but I still don't get the free accessory.

I ended up going that route. Texted the seller this morning. Didn't hear back so I he might be a little fumed. Didn't mean to, just didn't realize renting a truck was going to cost so much. Yah $20 a day + mileage. That ends up being like over $120 not including tax.

Oh I'm patient. Definitely don't need right away. Plus if I buy new, I get the reward points. If I buy via craigslist, I'll have to pay cash. The more I think about it, I think I'm going to go new unless this guy really gives me a good deal (doubt it).

Yeah, it's all on the site. We just over looked it. I just put my free accessory in the comments block. Ordered it last night. I would definitely buy it new if you don't need it fast.

I tried calling them to but no response, I placed my order on Christmas and since then it has been in the pending stage. I assume they are gone this whole week.

I did a group buy through Trail Duty back in September and it takes them about 1-2 weeks to place the order directly w/Gobi. Placed my order on Sept. 2, order placed with Gobi on Sept. 13, and the rack arrived Dec. 22. Well worth the wait plus you get free accessories!

Since you already purchased yours you might be better to ask. I've heard that they pre authorize the purchase from your account but don't change until they ship. I assume trail duty charges at the beginning and that is it? Thanks

Correct. As soon as I placed my order with Trail Duty I was charged the full amount and that was it. Waited 12 weeks before I contacted Gobi for a status and then received a call from the delivery company to set up an appt. to drop off.

Called Gobi and left a msg saying I wanted in on the groupbuy for a roof rack left my phone number, hopefully they'll honor the special pricing after they get back from the holidays.

FYI their VM says they will be out through Jan 3rd.

Did you add the struts in your shopping cart? I did, and it didn't discount them, just the ladder, so my total was $345. I didn't complete the order, and have a call into them, but no reply yet.

No I emailed support before ordering. Just add the ladder and apply the code for the $15 off. They manually add the struts to your order.
