Figure GB held Fall 2018, 12 month lead time... you'll receive sometime in Spring of 2019. :noidea:

All kidding aside, ladies and gentlemen *drum roll*... I am #13 on the list, I was the very first GB member to place an order with Gobi waaay back in November. I am relieved to say that my rack is FINALLY HERE :eyebrows:. It will be delivered tomorrow and hopefully installed sometime in the very near future!!
Feedback/constructive criticism/rant: I'm not a very impatient person, I'd like to say I'm fairly patient and cool headed, but this purchase did push my limits. I understand these things take a while to be built, and I am willing to wait extra for something that will be made with superb craftsmanship. That being said... I find it a bit upsetting that they had no logical method as to who got their racks manufactured and delivered first. There's no point in having a "list" if they don't follow the hierarchy of that list. Now I'm sure as soon as I get this rack on my runner, all my frustration will cease to exist and I will be one of the many happy customers out there but I do believe that they should have been a bit more realistic with their lead times. if they had told us from the get go that we were all looking at roughly 5-6 month build times, we all could of been prepared and it would have been easier to stomach. In any case... Jicko, thank you for putting this GB together! I really appreciate all of your work in getting this thing going. Although customer service and lead time estimation needs work, thank you Gobi for the discount and a great product.

Agreed something that was discussed when this was first posted was to be sure to fully disclose the wait times from Gobi have historically been way off and they have deliberately lied on multiple occasions to dozens of members of when the rack was finished/sending out to powdercoating/getting shipped/etc,etc. The fact that the company can get annual group buys after consistently $hitting the bed is quite impressive, just sad for forum members.

Number #23 on the list and I should be getting my rack this week. Only 20 plus weeks from order date...
Update: Scheduled for May 11th at 12:30 for now..

I can't do it. I spent another $100 today for cross bars because I can't wait for the gobi. So much for saving on the group buy. The wait was not worth it to me to save $200. 16 weeks for me this week and there is no rack in my near future. The cross bars will allow me to enjoy my kayaks again without wasting more of my spring/summer. Now I can enjoy life without waiting week by week.

I feel your pain. With having to pay tax, the rack itself wasn't that great of a deal to wait this long. But with the extras it kind of made sense. My apartment has become overrun with things as it was "supposed to ship" first of the month. Now Gobi won't give me any info at all, they had been good at communicating with me up until the last couple of weeks.

#61 ... ordered 11/30/16, received 4/25/17, completed install yesterday (ladder not installed yet). No pic..."you've seen one..."
Impact on the ride is apparent ... more body roll, most of the weight feels like it's on the back tires (might be my imagination). MPG impact is TBD.
Worth the premium price and lengthy wait time? Also TBD...

Just wanted to offer this up. I am not in the GB but I ordered thru Trail Duty so I am waiting too. In the meantime, I needed something to get me by. I ordered this off Amazon. It says it doesn't fit my 2016 5th gen but I took a chance since it was so cheap. It does fit. Its not the sturdiest, but its not bad either. Wind noise is surprisingly minimal. Anyway, just an option.
