Did anyone run into any issues with the rack not sitting flush on all 6 mounts?
I had the 4 "GOBI" logo-ed brackets pretty snug when we lifted the rack and mocked it up against these brackets. The Rack looked and sat evenly on all 4 brackets. Per the instructions, I then attempted to install the front legs.
When I attempted to install the driver and passenger side front legs, the middle "GOBI" bracket on the driver side did not touch the rack. There was about a 1/2 gap between the middle bracket and the rack with the driver side front leg installed. I can also feel that the majority of the weight of the rack is on the front driver side leg. There are adjustments you can make on the front legs but they are set as low as possible and the rack still does not make contact with the middle bracket (front fixed "GOBI logo-ed bracket) on the driver side.
On the passenger side, the rack seemed to be touching the middle, rear "GOBI" logo-ed brackets and the front leg evenly. The weight of the rack on the passenger side also seems to be evenly distributed. It seems like if the adjustments on the driver side front leg would allow the rack to sit down further, it would then rest on the middle "GOBI" logo-ed bracket and sit correctly.
Did anyone else run into this issue? I'm afraid if I tighten the bolts on the driver side middle "GOBI" logo-ed bracket to the rack, it would pull the bolts holding bracket into the roof, out of the roof.

Same. I tightened them up. Suggest you call Gobi and send them a pic if you are concerned though.

Also had the same issue but the gap wasn't as large -- maybe 1/4 inch. Cinched everything down and so far so good.

I didn't run into this problem at all. Did you maybe miss the plastic spacers or maybe the metal shims or something on the 4 "GOBI" logo brackets?
it's supposed to be from bottom to top stacked directly on top of the metal in the roof gutter: 1 skinny rubber pad, the two white plastic spacers, one wide rubber pad, one metal shim that has rubber pads on it, another skinny rubber pad, and then the "GOBI" logo bracket. on top of the bracket and between the rack is another large rubber pad. Then the rack. On top of the rack goes the washer and lock washer.
Also, make sure the front brackets are on the correct side. There's a driver and passenger side for the front brackets. If that is reversed, the rack will not sit flat like you said. If all of that is there, maybe the rack is warped or bent?
No idea, but they should start now so they'll ship by Christmas.

What price did you get.
Everything was installed correctly according to the directions and video. Gobi responded back and said that it is normal for a gap between the rack and the middle GOBI Logoed mounts when the front legs are installed. I buttoned everything up and the rack seems to be very solid.
Per the instructions, you are supposed to lift the front of the rack and adjust the front legs so the front leg brackets are 3-1/4" above the roof. The highest I could get the rack after buttoning everything up was just under 3-1/8". Not sure if that's a crucial part or not. Did anyone else have issues getting the rack to sit 3-1/4" above the roof?
For those with their Racks installed, how do you plan on keeping gear dry and dust free? I ordered the large and small Raingler nets to keep everything down, but am looking for the best way to keep everything in order. I plan on hauling my Tent, Sleeping Gear, Bags...and don't want any of it to get wet or dusty.
My first thought was large Dry Bags, but getting bags big enough to fit some of this stuff yielded few options and are very expensive.
Any other ideas are appreciated!

I have a 20 cubic foot dry bag for a large hitch-mount cargo shelf that I plan on using for my soft goods, strapped down with the Raingler net. The one I have isn't available any more but there are a lot of options for reasonable prices.
Thank you for the info...What all are you able to fit in a 20 CF bag?

This one is 5' x 2' x 2', so it holds a lot of shit. I haven't used it for my camping soft goods like mentioned, but I have used a similar volume Yakima cargo box, and it held a ton. Both tents, sleeping pads, four sleeping bags, pillows, and some duffle bags.
As far as this dry bag, I've only used it for one Christmas trip but it held a lot of bags and kept everything clean and dry even though we drove through one of the worst Texas Panhandle winter storms we've gone through. The bag was covered in dirty frozen sludge and other than the heavy rubberized material getting stiff and making the zipper difficult it worked great.

Before I rant, just wanted to thank [MENTION=119516]jicko[/MENTION] for organizing this group buy. Thank you greatly for your time and putting this group together! I am sure when we all receive our racks we will be satisfied with the product received.
Well, spoke with gobi earlier today and was told the rack should ship by first week of June... 3 weeks ago the story was I would receive the rack by the 13th of May...
I requested time off from work according to this time frame (I was holding up others to take their time off) and now I will need to request additional time when the rack actually ships.
I hope a larger manufacturer buys out gobi; and that new company is able to set appropriate expectations and meet those expectations when they are set.
Through out this wait time I was patient and understanding of the volume gobi has to deal with in this group buy. My patience has passed and I am on the verge of canceling my order and settling for a rack made by another manufacturer.
Unfortunately there are no other racks out there that I like as much as the stealth design... I have done with out the rack this long... what is a few more weeks right?...
One thing I do know, I will never buy another gobi product if I can help it.

I concur. Thank you for organizing the group buy. I have cancelled my order. I have been told several different dates. I have needed this rack for not one but two trips and I was just informed that I would not have the rack in time for a third trip. I don't usually complain and tend to empathize with business owners since I own my own business. However, this kind of wait time and customer service is completely unacceptable. Completely unacceptable! Good news for those of you that are waiting because there is now one less order. Companies like this will not give a damn unless customers take a stand. There product is very aesthetically pleasing but not worth waiting 6 months to receive it and being charged more than the average roof rack.

They have been giving me the run around for over two months. I even offered to pay full price back in March so I could have the rack in May for a trip. Yes, the Gobi rack is georgeous but I'm not willing to allow a company to provide the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Plus, I should have known better. I've read tons of forum members posts about how it took 6+ months to get their rack but I thought "come on. How could a company take that long to fill orders?" Well, I certainly found out. After all, the roof rack is meant to be a functional piece of equipment. If a K-9 rack is good enough for expedition overland then it's definitely good enough for me. Good riddance GOBI!
