GOBI Roof Rack *Group Buy* Winter 2016

Question for you guys/gals that have received your racks: Did you receive your rack in the quoted 7-10 business days from the shipping notice or did it take longer? I received my email on Monday from Gobi stating it was shipped, but when I spoke to them on Thursday they said it actually shipped on Tuesday. I am going on a 4 day trip on the 27th and am trying to gauge if it will be here in time for me to install.

I am in AZ for context.

Not too far from you -- mine took exactly 5 business days from the GOBI email to the call from local freight co. Arrived earlier this week. No rhyme or reason to these fulfillments, it seems.

Gobi should be working triple shifts, and 7 days a week to meet their stated timelines or whatever it takes - or - tell people from the day of sale that it's going to be 6 months before you see your rack and you will receive no updates in that time.

I concur. Thank you for organizing the group buy. I have cancelled my order. I have been told several different dates. I have needed this rack for not one but two trips and I was just informed that I would not have the rack in time for a third trip. I don't usually complain and tend to empathize with business owners since I own my own business. However, this kind of wait time and customer service is completely unacceptable. Completely unacceptable! Good news for those of you that are waiting because there is now one less order. Companies like this will not give a damn unless customers take a stand. There product is very aesthetically pleasing but not worth waiting 6 months to receive it and being charged more than the average roof rack.

Sooooooo let me get that rack instead haha

Ha ha ha ha nice. I used to spend 87% of my day over there but truthfully got kinda tired of it. Now I spend 87% of my day over here. People seem more real over here. I got tired of everyone married to supermodels, paying cash for their 60k vehicles and having their 100k paying jobs. Lol.

I received a call from the shipping company this morning. They said the rack will be at my house tomorrow afternoon! Looks like I am taking a half day tomorrow LOL

Email today May 23rd from Trail Duty that says it shipped, expect 5-10 days. This puts me out past my OBX trip...

Glad I purchased cross bars to haul the kayaks, at least I'll have something exciting to come home to!

Email today May 23rd from Trail Duty that says it shipped, expect 5-10 days. This puts me out past my OBX trip...

Glad I purchased cross bars to haul the kayaks, at least I'll have something exciting to come home to!

Just got a Frontrunner custom rack installed today, great company, I highly recommend!

Rear Light Wiring

So I will be adding Rigid lights to the rear of the rack along with the Rigid 40" Bar up front. I am wondering a couple things for those of you that have already installed the lights:

1) Since Gobi racks no longer come pre-wired for lighting, are you able to fish the wire internally for the rear lights or are you just running it externally and zip tying in place?

2) I was planning on running the wires for all 3 lights (1 light bar, 2 rear lights) up thru the windshield to the rack, but am curious of all of those wires will actually fit in the small gap in the windshield. Does anyone have experience running this many wires thru?

thanks [MENTION=143100]aspec44[/MENTION] I've been wondering the same thing but unable to get a good answer. I've been searching for pictures of close ups too and no luck. I have been trying to figure out how to get it wired up by running wires inside the rack through a mounting hole in to roof liner. the grommet holes are so small, seems like only 16gauge or thinner will even fit in them and are in odd locations. I stopped by a car toys (don't judge) for thoughts and he said he would drill a hole in my roof directly below the lights to run the wire in to the car. I stopped talking to him after that suggestion.

Unfortunately no. In the beginning I made a comment about the company and historically how it performed on group buys or lack there of and I was shut down. Even with the disclosure of longer than expected wait times its the way Gobi changes their tune with every other email/call when members check on the status. It went to powdercoat, but it didn't' and will next week, there was a delay but should ship out...it shipped out last week, but not really and should later this week.

I just don't see how the mods keep allowing us to "work" with this company giving it thousands of dollars with these bi-annual GB's and there is absolute no change from Gobi on the handling of it, and what seems to be consistent misrepresentation and angry members.
