So I just placed a regular order for a rack through Gobi Last week (6/8) and they gave me a lead time of 8-12 weeks. Should I not hold my breath on that?

group buy orders got the lowest priority. I've heard regular orders tend to ship in the expected time frame. we all ordered when they had 300+ orders, you should be fine

I'm in Colorado, so presumably shipping shouldn't take too long.

As of June 12, have not seen anything or heard from the freight company...

As of June 12, have not seen anything or heard from the freight company...

My coworker order his in April and they promised him it would be ready by June for his trip and surprisingly enough they got him the rack by June. I'm guessing they took a rack from someone who was part of the group buy and gave it to him because 2 months turnaround is a miracle for how long Gobi usually takes. But it seems like they have no system in place in regards to how the racks are delivered.

Those are some crazy wait times! But well worth it! I loved the rack!

I have a Sunroof insert, Removable cross bars and 4 brackets for a 6 inch LED light. If anyone is interested.

I am curious, when you total a modified vehicle like that, do you submit that as part of the insurance claim or did you just get reimbursed for the cost of the stock vehicle? If you did just for the stock price, did you try to salvage what you could off of it to resell?

unless you pay extra insurance for the mods most insurance companies will only reimburse you a small amount if any at all. I worked at a Honda lot for awhile when I was out of HS and we would get cars in all the time for insurance adjustments. most of the time the owner would come strip them of the mods cause they weren't going to get anything more for them. I remember one kid who came in and he stripped everything. The muffler, intake, all of his wiring, stereo...he took as much off as he could before the tow truck took it to a salvage yard.

Kind of insulting to me... It's your lucky day?? Why would anybody be lucky that they are getting a product they paid for? I guess in Gobi's world... getting a shipment is being lucky?

Patiently waiting for my rack still??? Asked for status update and no reply yet from Gobi. Not sure how others lower on the list than me received their rack already.

Now June 21, still haven't heard a peep from freight company, and GOBI has stopped responding to email. Their racks may be the sh!t, but as a business, GOBI sucks.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm #125 and still haven't received my rack

if it makes you feel any better this is the case with other rack manufacturers as well. I browsed several Rack GB threads, they all seem to have bad estimated ship dates and subpar communications

Gobi Rack

Well, hurray Gobi Rack arrived and is in the process of being installed at my 4X shop.

Got an email from Trail Duty out of the blue last wednesday (6/13), said it would be 5 to 10 business days.
Yesterday out of the blue got a call from said 4X shop said a truck was unloading a package for me from Gobi. So. . . .

So no notification from Gobi, No notification from freight company, but at least it is being installed at my local shop today. they were able to start it today.

Update

Well I got a call Friday from a freight company in Seattle (I'm in eastern wa) saying the driver would be over my way by 5-7. I was stoked. Guy brought it down from the truck (last box in there for the day), we pushed it in my garage, I signed for it, and he was off. Oddly I noticed there were two labels on it, various sharpie marks, a couple different shipping companies names, etc. some had my name and some had another guys name (from Oregon). I figured this had something to do with freight shipping and maybe they shipped it to a guy/company in Oregon first and then it got shipped here.

Spent a bunch of time disassembling the very well packed box, stripping off all the plastic wrap, and breaking down cardboard. I first noticed my free group buy items were not there - ratchet / tie down strap system and gas struts. Then I see started looking at some of the labels, internal packing slips, etc and I see.... "2017 jeep Cherokee". Oh shit.

**TO BE CLEAR THIS WAS NOT GOBI'S FAULT**

Looks like they freight shipped both racks to Washington state where some sub contracted freight shipper brought it to me. It appears that company must have switched labels and put another label with my name on this guys rack box. Gobi has been responsive as far as tracking down what happened and fixing this - even this weekend. They've called and emailed me a few times today. They are trying to track down where my rack is. Not sure what they are going to do with this guys rack yet. I do not have the means to pack this thing back up. I've also been in contact with him to let him know what's gljng on.
