I wouldn't wait for a group buy, if one happens again it wont be until winter. gobi will be raising prices soon too if they haven't already. plus your wife might change her mind by then. I would just order one, see if trail duty or someone has a discount going.

I don't know what the group buy price was, but with the info on this page you can get a Gobi rack with accessories for a really good price.

Yes i bet it is very close to GB price and if they increase the price august 1 i'd jump on the discount code from trailduty. Ordered mine 11 weeks ago no shipping yet but i bet it will come quicker than the long group buy wait times

I used the Gobi100 code when i ordered from Trailduty. TD emailed me back saying there was a better promo going on and they gave me 10% off instead of the $100. Ordered 06/29

Trail Duty is very perplexing or maybe they are just very nice and honest. They advertise one code but then give you a better deal behind the scenes????? They did the same with me. I entered the code at the time, then they emailed me after I put in my order and gave me something extra that I didn't even ask for but definitely sweetened the deal.

The trailduty code works.....however does Trailduty charge the full amount to your card at the time of ordering?

Because Gobi waits until your order is ready before charging.

Can anyone please educate me on what I should be doing for the best price / delivery date / etc?

There is a lot of good info in the past few pages of this thread. Delivery date is going to suck no matter how you order it, 16 weeks? Group buys will be a longer wait time. If you order from trail duty you will pay taxes since they are in Texas. The take 100 off using code gobi100 and include ladder and fairing. I ordered from them because they are Texas business and with the discounts i got cancelled out the taxes. I am 13 weeks and still waiting but this all seems to be normal even if ordered direct from gobi.
