Anyone using chrome & crashing alot ? I don"t know these new fangled computers real well .

I use it on my android phone, no problem yet.
Regular google on the lap top.

I run Chrome on all my computers, works great except for one or two websites that get a hair funky on me.

Ya been running it for awhile & now in the last few wks it's been crashing alot , I don't get it not real sure how to correct it either . Should have listened to my mom 40 yrs ago & got into computers like she said !
Chrome is usually very stable. The problem lies in the web-site. Unfortunately not all browsers support all the features or the same features the same way. I suspect the website is written with a tilt toward Internet Explorer. And they may be using special features that IE handles very well...but Chrome doesn't.

Considering that I've been in the software engineering field for over 40 years..then YES...Computers have been around that long.
The laptop you buy at WallMart has more power then mainframes of that era. Networking as almost non-existent...and obviously there was no internet.

do you mean you use a different browser on your lap top but still use the google search function?
I use google chrome a lot and find it far superior to Internet Explorer. I stopped using firefox a while ago. I don't think chrome crashes more than others. But it does allow you to restore the exact pages/tabs you had up when crashed. I dont think the others do that

On my lap top, It's IE, but when I do search, I use google.
I'm not what you would call computer savy. Just a useful tool.
Besides, without it, it would take to long to figure out how to and what not to do with my 4r.
FYI- I'm in the same age group as the OP. :tape2: And yes, they had computers back then.

If the issue persists, it might be best just to reinstall chrome, luckily they make it easy to back up all your bookmarks and settings.
The new "This tab is playing audio" feature has me completely faithful to Chrome.

Mine has been doing it everyday. I figured it was all the porn messing up my chrome!!!! If this is too hard just unistall chrome and reinstall it from your Internet explorer browser.
BUT...Try the steps below. It has worked for me every time. It is straight from the chrome website.

If you see this error message repeatedly, your browser user profile may be corrupted. First try moving the Default subfolder from your User Data folder to see if that fixes the problem:
Enter the keyboard shortcut Windows key (to the left of the spacebar) +E to open Windows Explorer.
In the Windows Explorer window that appears enter the following in the address bar:
Easiest way is to copy and paste this into the address bar....
Windows XP: %USERPROFILE%\LocalSettings\ApplicationData\Google\Chrome\User Data\
Windows Vista/ Windows 7/ Windows 8: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\
Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default
Linux: ~/.config/google-chrome/Default
Click OK.
In the window that opens, rename the "Default" folder as "Backup."
Move the "Backup" folder from the "User Data" folder up one level to the "Chrome" folder.
Close the window and reopen the Chrome browser.

THANKS GUYS , this is what I'm talking about like a foreign language . Gonna have to get the kid on it . I did try to uninstall & that seemed to work & it seems to particularly happen on our forum ALOT !! But I will try what HiVel-JR says, can't hurt ! Annoying for damn sure
