***UPDATE***
I passed on the Driftwood Pearl V6 - I had read a lot of very negative reviews about the dealer, so decided not to take the chance.
The good news is that I found a 2008 SR5 4WD V8 (!) for sale from a local seller on CL. Took a look at it today, and gave the seller a deposit. Hope to have it in my driveway by Wed or Thursday this week.

Here are the details:
- 83,000 miles
- Original owner was in Texas, who had it for the first 55,000 miles and babied it (found all dealer service records online)
- current owner searched for SIX months for this model - Silver, V8, 4WD, with side airbags...and when she found it four years ago, had it shipped up to Maryland
- Current owner has only put about 7000 miles per year on it, and has done all her own maintenance (except for front wheel bearing replacement two years ago)
- She has done some towing - a single horse trailer a few times per year
- Has almost brand new Nitto Crosstek tires all around (these are amazingly quiet tires - I hope they last a long time and do well in the winter)
- Has a brand new battery
- Underbody / frame is in GREAT shape - no rust to speak of
- Everything works - including the CDL and 4Lo
- Drove tight as a drum - no knocks, squeaks, rattles, or dash warning lights...and that engine - OMG it is an absolute gem (first time I've ever driven one)
We agreed on $16,500, which I think is a very good deal considering it's a V8 and has such low mileage with complete service history.
Only things I plan on doing right away:
-polish / restore the headlight lenses (top halves are a bit rough)
-replace the factory head unit with a decent double din BT / touchscreen
-add a couple of USB charging outlets in the back seat area, and an additional 12V in the front
-probably get the tailpipe cut and turned out the side
A little further on I'll get the timing belt done (and replace the water pump at the same time)
This isn't going to see any rock crawling so I don't think I'll be doing anything to the suspension or height.
