Dayum, I was trying to set up a extended weekend camp out around this time period.

But, I was trying to get some fishing time in also, you know, trout season open.
So, is this a paid camping area?

Plumas National Forest - Gold Lake Campground

Says "Oct through May is free", Opens in June. I'd say we're in for free but I'd bring a $10 bill just in case. The fishing is open and there are more than 20 lakes in the area. I'm gonna be doing some fishing while up there.

For those that want to meet me in Penn Valley, it's 1.5hr road trip North up 49 and then left on Gold Lake hwy.

So, camping on a pile of snow or is it going to be melt by then? Shows about 6600' elev.
I know when I go to Downieville around this time period, it's been covered with snow at that elevation. Just asking because haven't been in the spot you'll are going.
I'm planning to head to the hills at this time period.
Besides I have a couple of buddies wanting to tag along with me, and they tend to be a little loud and drunk at times. They will be in more of 2wd p/u. I don't feel like having to tow them in by straps all day. LOL.

Nothing for sure on the snow status. I might snow again, it might not. It's melting pretty fast. On our way to Bowman Lake we peaked 6100ft and there was still snow on the trails but none at all on the North side of the lake 5500ft that had sun. Like I said, there was a lot of running water from snow melt and were talking another month of melt. We should be good.

6100ft peak of the trail March 30.

I'm not to worried about snow after this trip (Jan 13')

LOL. Not much snow, as you show me a photos of your rigs, some what covered with snow, LOL. I'm not worried about on the trail with others in the group to assist if need be. Just not into the tent on top of it, or heavily in the camp area. I'm not packing for one of them types of trips, just what I can fit into my rig on this one. I usually take my flat bed trailer and load up for them kind of camp outs, all the comforts of home you might say. I know whimp, lol. Just getting older and body pains, extreme ruffing it days are kinda over on them several day camp outs. You can ib me, have communicated with Rob before about places to go. Was going to suggest going somewhere during this time period.

That snow camping trip was earlier in January (first attempt to Bowman). Sorry for the confusion. That spot was completely dry when we passed by on the way up to Bowman last weekend.

lol, that second picture was from mid-january. There was hardly any snow at bowman last weekend I highly doubt we will be camping in any snow on the May run.

I don't know about you guys but when we go out wheeling we are ****ing outta control all the time lol,i probly shouldfant talk about the activities on this forum right chris :lol:

The wheeling part I wasn't worried about, it's after in camp site I was referring to. Past exsperiances with them, not all that bad, but, some don't appreciate that crowd at times.
