Good point bob, I'm hoping that nate had a different water pump with a shorter nose on it. We'll see. If anything else I can just move the drive train down an inch or two and modify the firewall if I can do it without having to relocate a bunch of stuff behind the dash. I'm in no rush so right now I'm just throwing some ideas around.
I sold my 1st gen last week. And FoG has some plans which he'll have to follow through with if he wants to keep up with me
I'm trying to get him to do his SAS soon (which he wants to do) and use 35" tires.Lets just say that next year will be a good year for 4 wheeling!!!

Sorry, but you have the exact same water pump as Nate--I consulted with him about this very topic and used the model #'s he gave me. Not trying to shoot down your ideas--just letting you know I've already been down that particular road. One thing you may be able to do to save space BELOW the front of the engine--I was told I didn't need to run the power steering lines through the Toyota unit on the passenger side, and could eliminate those lines crossing under the balancer. For A/C, if I ever hooked it up again, I was going to get one of those small aftermarket Sanden compressors and mount it low on the passenger side with another Alan Groves Components bracket (that what I used for the alternator--sweet workmanship!).

Oh well. The body lift isn't that bad and it's not the end of the world for me if I have to keep it. I know you probably did all the things I'm doing now and that's probably why you used the body lift.
My concern about hacking the firewall and tucking the engine into it is working on the engine if I need to. I dunno... ideas will come and I'll build the 4runner even more. One way or another, it will get used for what it was built for

If I may, I think you're trying to move it the wrong direction. Instead of moving the engine forward, why not down instead? If you make your own motor mounts, you should be able to lower the whole thing a few inches. There should be plenty of room for the suspension movement afterwards, and you can tinker with the T-case crossmember however needed to get everything sitting at the right angle. I believe the headers will still clear just fine, as they loop up plenty high for clearance as it is. Just a thought.

you're talkin about fitting a 350 in a truck for **** sake lol... I was trying to fit a 350 in a focus. Now THAT'S a lack of space (it fit, it was just too heavy)
