Goodby my beloved 3rd Gen

Good bye to an old friend.
Well after 18 years and 531,000 kms (329,000 miles) I sold her. With my previous 1st Gen '88, I've racked up almost a million kms in 4Runners.

Spent all day Saturday cleaning and detailing.

The new owner also is a 4Runner owner although he has a'97 4 cylinder unit that is totally rusted out. His looked like it was shot up with a 50 cal. and was really excited to get mine.

The final straw for me was a rear upper control arm bracket breaking but the new owner has a welder to fix that for him. A few rust spots were appearing under door seals & such but otherwise, mines pretty good. Body is mint as you can see.

So good bye to all. I've picked up a 4th Gen Ltd and am switching over. Let the learning and mods begin ....

Well I guess you can't complain. You've got you money's worth. Anyone who owns a car for 18 years and is able to sell it with a lot of life still left in it today with that many miles on it, has done a good job maintaining it. Hats off to you. Best of luck in the 4th gen and have fun learning and modding!

No shame there. It is sad when one has to part with a car one has owned for 18 years.

I hope the new one has a 2uz under the bonnet.

Sorry to see you leaving 3rd gen land, but glad it's for a 4th gen. See you in general and off-topic.

Good luck with the new one. I guess the only way I could get rid of mine after 16 years would be major problems every week. I have a rebuilt motor, I'm rust proofing the frame & I'm replacing a lot of smaller parts so I think I can get another 16 years out of her. The refreshed 5th gen is tempting though!

As a fellow Ontario 4Runner driver, can I ask how much you sold yours for? :)
Definitely not on kijiji as I am on kijiji nearly every day looking at these!
My friend just bought his 4Runner out in Milton a couple weeks ago for $2900!

My plan too. Down south we don't really have rust issues and here pretty soon I will have replaced all the little bits that can fail and should be looking forward to another 200k miles.

A bit under that. I wasn't looking to make money on it. It doesn't owe me anything. A friend of mine who knew my truck passed on the info and it was bought sight unseen. I didn't even list it.
