Goodyear Wrangler All Terrain Adventure Mini Review

Finally decided to treated myself with an early Christmas present with a set of Goodyear All Terrain Adventure for my 08 Urban Runner. They replaced the OEM Bridgestone dueler h/t and tell you the truth, I don't have much complain about them besides the occasionally uphill stop and go wet highway traction problems but that is it after 50k with them.

I've been searching for a more aggressive tread tires for a few months with good highway traction, quiet, and decent tread life warranty and after few months of research, I've decided GY All Terrain is right for me. I was also thinking of getting a larger size for the replacement with 265/65R18 but after talking to the tire guys at the shop and also help from previous members post here at T4R.org, I think it is best to stay stock size because of the rubbing issues.

Here is my mini subjective review after about 75 miles on the highway with them.

-Quiet, I didn't realized the Bridgestone were making that much road noise until I have something to compare to. Like this a lot :nod:

-Handling, during road turning, I feel the 4runner is leaning less compared to the Bridgestone, and much more sure-footed. Not sure this is because of the weaker side wall. Another thumbs up :thumb3:

That is it, since I didn't experience rain or inclement weather to write about.

Overall, very satisfy with the purchase after dropping about $1200 (tires, tax, installation, balancing, and wheel alignment) for them. And oh yeah, the tires come with white lettering on the side wall but if you don't them, you can have the shop flip the other side for the black wall. I did mine with white letter showing.

Just started to snow here in jersey.



As I mentioned before, the 265/60R18 is already a tight fit, thank god I didn't go with the 265/65R18 or else there will be rubbing when turning the front wheels. (This is the front driver side turned to the right, not much room at all)

Keep updating, i'm very interested to know how these do in snow. Right now mine has Destination A/T's which i'm happy with but we've used Silent Armors at work and they're great tires, the Kevlar makes them last forever.

I'm between these, General Grabber A/T's and Dick Cepek Trail Country's next, the latter having a load range E option in my stock 265/65/17 size. The General's are cheapest so i'll probably go with them, but if the Goodyears last twice as long i'll spring for them instead.

So far we haven't had any significant snow yet, just a couple inches of slush and so far my van with street tires haven't had an issue, but I know we'll get hammered early this coming year so that'll be the real test.

Well the weather today here in Jersey was wet, with an inch of snow in some area, slush and occasional ice patches because the temperature dropped down to around 27 degrees here at night . I was on the road half a day today and put about another 80 miles, drove through them all and the tires handled very well in all those condition .

The only issue is when making a turn on to some ice patches, felt the traction control came on when I tried to accelerate for a quick second . But that was it, very happy with these tires so far.

Try driving 500 miles in a snow storm with the snow on the highway freezing into chunks, in a dually with half worn Wrangler HT's. Those tires are less than desirable in snow. Not too bad on a srw but on a 2WD dually, not so much.

Any all terrain is a step up from the junk tires they usually buy for our work trucks, and these look decent, better than the outgoing Silent Armors even, which are great tires.

Well, the 3 snow storm within one week but this is especially bad here in NJ/NYC area. Put about 500 miles this week and tonight coming back home with my family from Brooklyn NY to NJ was like blizzard condition around here.

I must say these tires handled the city and highway roads like a champ. The entire way I'd the 4runner on 4HI and only got up to around 45mph due to the condition. What didn't help is the temperature tonight dropped to around 20s so most of the roads were covered in snow and slush throughout the drive.

One of my worst fears in these conditions is changing lanes on the road or highway, you have to go over what I called "snow humps" or "slush humps". and few times with the oem bridgestone dueler the 4runner's rear will slide out a little from time to time when changing lanes but not with these tires. I changed lanes on the highway few times tonight hitting those "humps" and these tires went through them without any problem at around 40-45mph (Please note I’m not here to advocate driving fast in the snow but you do need to change lanes from time to time).

So far so good, but the only complain I have is a drop of fuel economy. Lost about 15-20 per tank so far but not a big deal. I think these tires weight about 2lbs more than the dueler so maybe this is the cause of it.

ive got the goodyear wrangler silent armors. driven them for about 12k miles in all kinds of weather and they do pretty well in all environments and are VERY silent!

Pretty much what I have on my 3rd gen (GY Wangler AT/S), and they are indeed a great tire in all type of inclement weather. :driving:

How are you still liking these tires?

I really like the looks for them and the only other tire option I have in 265 60R20 is the Cooper Discoverer AT3 but the Goodyear is $100 more per tire. Is it worth the extra $400?

Just purchased LT265/60R20 Pro-Grade version - Load Range E - for my 2013 Limited. If you go with the pro-grade, you get the snowflake rating for severe snow. Compared to the stock Yokohama's, they look 100% better but the ride, noise and mileage all suffer in non-winter driving. i'm down from 19 mpg avg on the trip computer to 16.5 after 1000 miles. Steering feels a bit less connected but it's expected. Expecting our first 6 to 12 inches of snow in MN tonight. Can't wait to test them out.
