I should start this by saying I love my Duratrac's. I have stock size E rated.
Problem is I live on the east coast of Canada where we can have some pretty messy winters with a mix of snow/ice/rain, all in the same day. I have the Duratrac's on now for about 15k km's and one good winter on them and they are just not the tire I am looking for for winter driving. My own opinion is, even though winter rated, the tire is so knobby that in between the treads just fills with snow and there's just not enough contact area for the tire onto the snow and ice.

I know that with the Duratrac's installed I will never get stuck. That it not the issue. The problem I have with them is stopping. They just don't seem to have the stopping power that a good winter tire should have.

Anyways, getting a set of Blizzak's installed on the stock rims today. Ran them in the past and happy with their performance. Will update this after I get to give them a good run in the snow.

just punch the accelerator once in a while and induce some wheel spin. it'll fling the snow off the tires no problem :banana:
 
I just picked up my Duratracs this morning, 285/70/17. I can't wait to have them installed with my OW when that arrives sometime next week. It puts me at ease reading these reviews on this particular tire. I knew I made a good decision with the Duratracs.
 
Stopped at a local shop today to get a price on some duratracs, the dink behind the counter runs the numbers and slides over a piece of calculator paper like he doing me doing a favor $1603. Not even sure if they were C or E rated. Goes on to ask if it was a little more than I thought, just smiled and said he was right on track, wanted to tell him he was on crack. Guess I will keep checking.

What size?

265 is around $233 a tire and 285 is around $280 a tire. Both of those are for a 17" wheel.

I think I got my 265/70/17 for about $190-200. It's crazy how much the price has gone up.
 
Stock 265, in C load range, just checked tirerack $844 + shipping, so even with mounting & all the other add ons I figured $1100 the most.

I got C rated stock size for $986 installed+tax here in Canada. Should be cheaper in US.
 
My tires have 250 km on them now, and i love them, such a huge upgrade over stock!

Finally my 4runner doesn't look like a gorilla wearing slippers
 
I just put a set of these on my 4Runner(285/70/17). I really enjoy the look they give. So far so good!
 
Got my Duratracs installed yesterday, the guy at the tire shop was adamant that they only be aired up to specs on the door of my 4Runner. I asked why not 44lbs & and he rattles on about the tpms sensors are not set for that and it will cause problems. Needless to say I will be airing up to 44. No I just have to do a search on setting the tpms to accept 44lbs. So far very impressed, the road shimmy on grooved concrete is gone, they channel water very good and they look sharp.

My findings for my first drive into work which is a 30 mile one way. My tires do have a very mild hum, but as soon as I turn the radio on the noise gets cancels out. One thing that is bugging me a little is the vehicle is wandering a bit on the hwy. I am not sure if it's due to the air pressure or just having a larger Dia. tire. So I will be checking that this afternoon after work. I do know that Discount filled them to 35 PSI.

I also have some slight rubbing on the passenger side front fender lip.

So . . . . How many miles have the Duratracs lasted for you guys??

In the market for some A/T and I usually buy BFG but I like the look of the GY better

I've had mine for about 2 and half years but only about 17k miles on them but they seem to be wearing well and I expect to see 45-50k out of them with my hard driving and off roading.

That is a pretty good price for the 285s.
