Grabber X3: will they fit?

Hello all,

I’m looking at buying a set of off road Grabber X3. Going to go with the 265/70R17 as I have a leftover set of stock rims.

The 5th gen is stock, no mods.

According to tirerack, the off road Grabber X3 265/70R17 won’t fit.

Instead they recommend the on/off road GRABBER A/TX 265/70R17.

Does anyone know if the Grabber X3 265/70R17 will fit an unmodified 5th gen? And if not, what mod needs to be made?

If you have OEM rims (non-TRD Pro) they should fit without any modification. If you have TRD-Pro rims on a non-trd pro they will fit but may require some fender pushing/trimming due to the different offset (TRD Pros are pre-trimmed at port). For reference I had 275 70r 17 Coopers that fit with no modification to my stock SR5 (32" tire). The Grabber X3 are listed as 31.6" diameter, 10.7" width. I currently run 265 Falken Wildpeak, 31.7" diameter, 10.8" width and they also fit without modification.

Tire Rack may say it doesn't fit because they only come in Load Range E, so it may be because of load as opposed to actual size...just a guess. They'll work just run the pressure at 40-44 psi depending on your vehicle weight (You can technically run as low as about 32psi at highway speeds safely but they may not wear evenly).

Rated 3195lbs per tire at 80psi.

4,800 lbs (4runner weight)/ 4 Tires = ~1,200lbs per tire

1,200lbs per tire/ 3195lbs @80 psi = .38 of load

This means the load at 4800 lbs vehicle weight is 38% of what they can handle at highway speeds.

38% of 80 psi = 30.4 psi... That is the minimum tire pressure you can run safely at highway speeds for 4800lbs of truck weight.

If you do end up having to trim the bumper because you have the TRD Pro style wheels, here's the official Toyota procedures they perform on the Pros.
