Grade Obama`s first year

Again, this thread is NOT about how, or why, we got where we are.... Its about GRADING his first year...
last I looked, 64% of the people taking the poll, gave him an F
give it a day, it may go in your favor, it may not... either way, the thread is about grading his first year, NOT what he started with, not what others did before him, not why where when or what, not the color of my rig, but simply his first year, and what you think think he should get as a grade, lol

This thread is more you gloating about those numbers then actual grading of how he has done.
I don't care if it goes into my favor or not. I'm fully aware some of his initiatives he has tried to push through haven't been extremely popular, I disagree with things he has done and believe he has plenty of room for improvement.
I don't think he should ever pushed through new healthcare, It's too big of an issue and he bit off more then he could chew IMO, taking away all his momentum after he won office. I do give him props for doing it as it was is a mess, but I don't think you can fix a car while moving either. The whole thing needed to be blown up and started from scratch but that wasn't won't ever happen
It's too early to grade him, it's pointless. We don't no if things he has done will make the economy better or how health care will turn out etc.

I gave the pompous a$$ an F overall. I lost what very little faith I had in him when he began pursuing his own agenda (healthcare) instead of working diligently to resolve the current issues (WAR and economy).

I would grade his First year as the leader of the Greatest Nation on Earth with a F- And I will leave it at that. Thank you and have a good day.

I am giving him an A, and i hope he continues this course, the more shit he does like this, the more people will hate him, and have distrust in the democratic party. They democrats wanted him in there, and they got exactly what they wanted. It is only a matter of time before the Republicans win the seat and the majority. They are there own biggest enemy.

The republicans don't exactly have there act together either, there doing there best to mess things up even not being the majority.

One thing you can't deny is his willingness to discuss matters and be more open to to the public then the previous stealth presidency.

So, the closed door meetings with only members from one political party....are those the "transparencies" that were promised?

BTW, these financial issues....specifically with home mortgage loans, have been a problem since LONG before either Bush was in office...

he began pursuing his own agenda (healthcare)

Health Insurance and Medical Expense costs could EASILY be reduced with Tort Reform. However, Obama wouldn't last long if he pissed off his major monetary contributors (lawyers)...

Thats true the home loans fiasco really started with carter and Reagan and just happened to collapse during bush's term when real estate tanked. But the economy was on a sharp downward trend so for people to say obama has done horrible with the economy well that is just an easy way out.

Lets see every president has closed door meetings but obama actually apologized for his closed door meeting with congressional leaders on health care. Would bush have ever apologized umm nope, secrecy was the norm. Atleast he owned up to his mistake. But for the most part he has been a lot more open, not perfect of course.

For example obama going in front of a republican audience to answer questions unscripted is something that is nice to see.

Well I do agree there are many un needed lawsuits in this country against the medical establishment but the problem with tort reform is lettings big businesses get away with alot more and not be held accountable. While republicans believe private corporations will police themselves we all no in the end they will look out for the almighty dollar and the consumer can suffer

Teqeeler, If you look back at all of the major legislation passed in this country, all of it except Obamacare was passed with some sort of bipartisan vote. Let's analyze the numbers:

Medicare- Social Security Online (more than 1/2 of Republicans in the house voted yea and a 13/30 Republican senators voted yes)

Social Security: Social Security Online - HISTORY: Vote tallies on 1935 law (Majority of Republicans voted yea)

War on Iraq: 82/208 House Democrats voted yes and 29/50 Democratic Senators voted yes

Obamacare: Not 1 Republican voted for the current bill

That is my proof of why Obama deserves an F in the bipartisan category.

Thats great proof, you go with that lol.

Ummm.....I am sorry, but handing out $700 billion in funds without stipulation or regulation to your friends and financial supporters IS a terrible idea. Even they realized that afterward...

Lets see every president has closed door meetings
But none of them made it a point during campaign to say that they wouldn't have that...

Texas has Tort Reform and it seems to work out well down here. Doctors these days practice defensive medicine....simply because they dont want to get sued. They order more tests than are necessary because people sue at the drop of a hat even if the issues are not related. Our society believes that someone should be held accountable for every bad thing that happens to them. The worst part is that the malpractice insurance providers for these doctors simply want to settle and not go to court....which only drives up our health insurance costs.

Teqeeler,

Good points on both sides but this isn't exactly a Liberal friendly forum (not that there's anything wrong with being Conservative) and it doesn't matter what you say, you're going to be wrong. Again, not attacking conservatives, but you can't win this battle here.

And apparently ric isn't interested in any authentic thoughts on "why" you would vote the way you voted. Just look at the numbers and don't actually talk about the "why". It's a thread on an open forum but not open to discussion per ric's request. Just read it, give a letter grade and move to the next discussion.

I give obama B for his presidency. I appreciate his willingness to take on issues be more open and Bring a level of respectability back to the presidency

wow. someone's in denial. do I really have to dig up the numerous quotes and citations about the obama whitehouse invoking executive privilege more frequently than Bush? Nah why bother?

The republicans don't exactly have there act together either, there doing there best to mess things up even not being the majority.

no doubt. the only thing that could be worse than the moron sellout RINO crooks who run the republican party are the democrats. :'(

Interesting observation! I think that you're right...why is it that a 4runner forum has more conservatives than liberals?? Is it by chance? Is it because most 4runner owners are fairly stable financially?? So, if you were to have this poll or discussion on a Chevy or Kia forum, will the ratio be opposite?

I wonder if there are more Conservatives or if the Conservatives are just more vocal? Couldn't find a relevant poll so go here and vote

I wonder how many people giving him an F actually voted in the election......truthfully.

I've seen right through his BS since he first started his bid for president.....and I was right there in line to cast my vote for a DIFFERENT candidate.

However, I see what you are getting at, and I agree. If you do not vote, you give up your right to complain...

One thing I don't like about politics is how it creates hostilities among people that normally get along and one thing seems to be forgotten is that we all all americans and are freedoms include being able to vote for who we want and shouldn't be ridiculed or blamed for our choices as I've seen hatred come from these threads thus is why most forums ban political threads.

These threads just have a negative feeling over them and most of these threads have no viable discussions and end up being a butt slapping party for what party dominates the thread.

I've voted in every presidential election since '88 and for the most part things have been pretty solid in this country but the last 10 years is the worst I've seen things and it's hard to say if the next ten are going to be any better so I'm praying that either party gets their actg together and give us some solid evidence they can turn this country around. This last election was more about who could fool voters the best and obviously Obama won that one since the wheels came off the republican party's train at the end.
