Now that I've made 15 posts I can introduce myself.:noidea:

Name's Mike, longtime very hands on car guy, big National Parks fan. I mostly come from BMWs in recent decades, with an Infiniti QX4 for a vacationmobile for the past 9. Which was a nice ride, but oil consumption got out of hand, along with the evil clearcoat doing it's dandruff thing.

So, since 4Runners are supposed to last forever, I bought one.

My Gawd, how could I miss that! I thought I did, but clearly it's not here.

So... 08 4Runner. SR5, which I guess in Toyota terms means stripper. Not 5 speed like it once did. Yes I'm old enough to remember that. Although it does have a 5 speed auto box.

Anyway, bought off a lot 150 miles away, for maybe 2/3 of what ones close are going for. Maybe half, they're stupid expensive here. $14K, 147K, off a lot, very clean with I swear, no more than 2 gallons of Amour All used in detailing it. OK, maybe 3, but no more than that. Gallons that is. You can't touch any hard surface inside, or under the hood, without a greasy feel. Runs good, drives mostly good, well good mechanically, but that gas pedal and I have some issues to work out. Some odd quirks, it seems to have a bunch of little trim items missing, that will cost a few bucks to replace, 10 here, 20 there, etc. Not a fortune, just irritating. I'm going to blame the detailer, while they did make it look good (as I did selling my QX4, which was not trashed, but distinctly flawed) I get the feeling they kind of beat on stuff cleaning it up. Which I'm now missing. Oh well, it's 18 years old, almost 150K, the cars I sell like that are much more complete, but I'm probably the exception.

Anyway, the glamour shot! It is unfortunately one of the 3 colors today, black, white or in between, so while not great it could have been worse. Yellow, red, green, at least some greens, blue, all would have been much better. But you can only be so picky buying a used car.

Yeah, you saw the prices too. I'm just down in Cloverdale, half an hour south of you.

Nope, got it off a lot. A carfax with a bunch of dates and mileages, but no detail as to what was done. I've got a post in the 4th gen forum about what to do or look for, but not much of a reply.

Any suggestions?
