Grinding in reverse after oil change?

So I changed the transmission oil in my 1991 4Runner 5 speed with 75w90 GL4 Redline oil. Before the change the transmission was a bit notchy, but that was it. After the change now, the transmission is still notchy but now grinds going into reverse. I am thinking it might be related to my oil change, but can't figure out why.

The transmission took around 2.5quarts, or around what the service manual says. A tiny bit (like 1-2 ml) of 5w20 might have gotten in because I had to use an old 5w20 container to fit my oil pump into to fill up the transmission, but considering how much oil went in, I really don't see how that can be a problem. I also got new crush washers for the fill and drain plugs and torqued them to 27ft lb.

Has anyone maybe gone through the same experience and knows what they did to fix it/ why it's happening?

Put it in 5th then slide it into reverse. There's no syncro on reverse so it will grind every chance you give it

Thanks, I'll try that out. It didn't seem to do it before, though. My Miata doesn't have that problem either (it's just impossible to put it in reverse at times, but it doesn't grind).

If the clutch is let out at all then it will grind. It would be. Clutch issue until not tranny
