I've read that a few guys use the second compartment in the glove box but they didn't mention a locking mechanism.

Thats a odd spot since its out of reach (which is illegal in most states)

i keep my Kahr either in the "secret" compartment in the glove box. Or recently read on here of someone putting it in the little compartment in front of the cupholders..

I installed a console vault in my 04 v-8. Solid construction and very easy to install. I did the key vs. combo.
