It's almost certainly an air pocket in your cooling system. How and why you have air in the closed system is the real question. Mine was the head gasket, but like you pointed out, you have the V8 so it's less likely that you have the same problem. Not impossible, but far less likely.

OK this makes sense since I just had the timing belt and water pump done. How do I fix?
Edit: my wife said that it made this noise before the timing belt. smh
Lift the front of the truck, remove the radiator cap, crank the heater to full, and start her up. In theory the radiator should then be the high point in the system and the air bubbles will burp out. Stand there and watch for bubbles. If it eventually stops bubbling, just top it off to replace the air that was purged. If it doesn't stop bubbling then look for the source of the air. Something isn't sealed if the the system continues to fill up with air.

My 04’ V6 is making the same exact sound. Thanks for the recording I thought I was going crazy. My mechanic told me I have a small leak near the radiator so I’m assuming it’s an issue related to that, air in the system seems to make sense.
Mine also happens both when the key is in the on position and when the engine is running, idk if that means it’s definitely not the head gasket but that’s what it leads me to believe.

I burped the system as described earlier in the thread and it fixed the issue for now. Gonna keep an eye on my coolant reservoir and make sure nothing is leaking!

My problem is back so I think I may have to do a leak check around the rad. Time for a fun weekend.
