H11 bulb the same as an H16?

Thanks. Curiosity was based on the OSRAM H16 yellow halogen I had seen that was done by yellow coating a white H16 halogen. Being done in Taiwan and also not shown on the OSRAM site.

Osram seems to be a little less concerned about DOT / NHTSA when it comes to their LEDs. I know first hand that Philips is very concerned about NHTSA, which is why they are extremely cautious about which products they bring to North America. Overseas, they sell Philips branded HID kits, Philips branded LED headlight kits (H4, and stone to be released h7 and 9012), and other products that will never ever be sold here because of federal motor vehicle safety standards.

That yellow OSRAM is ordered thru ebay from some outfit (not OSRAM) in Taiwan. I think they are just coating the OSRAMs and OSRAM is not involved.

BTW I saw a post in another thread here that says their H16 Philips yellow LEDs faded almost to a halogen like light after several weeks. That makes me skeptical of laying out about $150 (with your 15% discount).

Also have seen on Amazon reviews that the NOKYAs halogen yellows are not very bright.

And of course I'm skeptical of the Taiwan recoat of the OSRAMs.

Plus reviews of other halogen yellows have been mixed at best along with the PIAA ION Plasma.

So I'm going to try the Lamin-X yellow film at $17.90 total and see how that works. Have only seen good reviews on it, but I'm sure there are some bad ones I may have missed.

No doubt just a result of my nuclear subsafe training by the master skeptic Rickover. A favorite saying of his. "If you don't pick nits you will get lousy".

There was a problem with the yellow coating in the first iteration of this bulb. Philips was made aware of the issue, and it was rectified -- just an FYI.

I know this is an old post, but I just wanted to put out a quick update. I was able to put Diode Dynamics H11 fog lights into the H16 factory housing. Pain in the butt to get any fog light in that housing...but I got it done.
