Hammock Camping From your 4R

Hey guys, Went with a few buddies out to the great wilderness for a few nights to wheel and camp out. We found an abandoned barn (public property). We slept there and I just wanted to see some other pictures of people camping with their rigs.

I just went camping with mine, I put the back seat down and slept in the back. It was pretty comfy. I'm 6'2 and I was able to sleep like that with the back closed, with the window down only a little to let air in. It was a lot of fun.
 
yeah... hammocks are awesome. We always have one with us.

We should have a dedicated camping section in the forum.
 
I have a Hennessey hammock, and that thing is the bomb. It's asymmetrical, so you sleep diagonally on it, which means you're flatter. Built in bug net is awesome too. I can easily get it set up in a couple mins.
 
I was just thinking about this, I just use a cot for now.

Hammocks take up less space, and you don't need even ground. The only thing I see the could be a issue is finding trees.

You're definitely right, though I find it easier to get flatter in the Hennessy. Though the only thing i can compare it to from personal experience is a Eno Double nest. Also of note, 6'3" and 275lbs. I've been really impressed with the Hennessy all the way around

You and I are built about the same, I'm 6'4" and chunky. I have an ENO that my wife uses and it's a little small for me. I ended up making the lime hammock myself, it's an 11 foot long 6 foot wide taffeta tablecloth with gathered ends. Anybody that can't lay flat up in there is named Shaquille.

When I sling from the first gen I tie off to the roll bar. On the third gen I use one of the Yakima towers. I was worried about the side loading but it's held up ok so far.
 
Wrapped up in that tarp. Have better gear and setup now, thank goodness.

Hey guys new to the forum and was scanning for a post i knida knew something about. my buddy and i love camping with hammocks in my 88 4runner and we just ran into the problem of not having any trees to hang from ( we were camping in the middle of a desert). so we had the great idea of bringing a 4 foot metal stake that we hammered down into the ground( 1 for each of us) and just tied off from the roll bar or even the hitch in the back. hope that kind of opens the box for you for some rad ideas.
