I guess I'm just bothered by what comes across to me as the making of excuses the actions of criminals who murder, rape and kidnap my fellow American citizens. Sorry that sounds harsh.

It rings similar though to how CAIR tries to normalize and sympathize for terrorist actions (eg London bomber and Paris shooters) by blaming unemployment and pressure to integrate for the horrible actions. They should be blaming the culture (eg their families, lifestyle, moral code of the neighborhood) that created the terrorist. The question is: "why does my community have so many young men who accept the call of terrorism but not men from other backgrounds". Clearly there is a problem with what's going on in culture of the social circle these men come from.

We should be blaming the culture (and no, culture is not ethnicity) that creates the gangs of rapists, the murders and the kidnappers. This is in contrast to saying things like gangs do some good. If course there has been wrongs committed, I won't question that but there past generations wrongs against an oppressed group is no longer an excuse for bad moral behavior eg gangs raping and killing kids around the neighborhood.

Take accountability! Don't cry out we are a victim. These days even terrorists think they are the victim. It is the first thing published ... eg "but look at how x people are treated" as if thats an excuse for this crap.

Being poor isn't an excuse for being a savage. Poor folks are everywhere and they don't do these things. .... And crying ethnic intolerance or oppression is beyond ridiculous.

America is the least racist country in the world and since you were referring to Latin gangs ... newsflash friend, even in Latin America where the folks you mentioned are not surrounded by a white majorty there is MORE killing, rapes and kidnapping by many many multiples than even the worst US city.

I completely agree with most of that. Notice I stated gangs destroy our youth and community before saying that some good has also came from it. To sum up what I disagree with in your statement, I will just say that oppression is still very much alive. Although it has changed from direct oppression by use of violence to legislature.

Yeah thanks and I definitely don't expect to agree completely or even often. And I am definitely channeling a bit of frustration at the left in my response.

I just cannot stand the idea of us as a society starting to make excuses for people's individual bad actions.

The terrorism thing is just an example that keeps popping up again. I woke up this morning to news of a religious terrorist attack in France. Its so sad and preventable. The French are forced to live under such daily threats.

Culture is something the left is afraid to discuss. It is taboo to ask: does this country's culture match our country? How will integration go if the answer is "no, not really"? Are the values the same? Can we integrate them to have our values? How many people, how fast?

Europe is finding this out for themselves and it is a rough going.

Personally I believe that the moderates, the independents and yes the left need to have more frank conversations about the POSITIVES and NEGATIVES of specific types of immigration into the US. There is a balance. It is not always good or always bad. If the new left had this conversation during the Obama years I don't think we would have had Trump as president.
