Hard Shell RTT Group Buy - Interest Gauge

Hey guys and gals, I'm in the process of ordering a sample of a hard shell RTT for quality review and for my personal use. I have some tentative pricing available for them and it looks like they will be between the $1400-$1500 range delivered to Los Angeles, Ca. I have personally vetted this company and they have an abundance of international trade logged which tells me they are a legit company with decent products.

This thread is to gauge interest for this product. If you've ever wanted a hard shell without the $2000 - $3500 price tag, this is your opportunity. The "tent" will include a black shell with grey fabric, ladder, mattress, and a hydraulic lift system. Basically, just unlatch the front and back, push up on either end and viola, your home for the weekend.

The tent size will be 215x145x95cm. Plenty of room for two adults, maybe even throw your kid in there too. I'm getting one so I can start camping with my two little ones (they prefer to sleep in elevated places, but who doesn't, right?).

Anyways, let me know if you'd be interested in this. Keep in mind that it'll take at least a month or two once we order the product.

UPDATE: Alright, so my landed cost for these in Los Angeles will be $1400. From that point anyone that order can either will call at my location in L.A. or I can ship it to them with some pretty good rates.

UPDATE: The last picture is the model I will be ordering as a sample for myself. Price is a bit higher, but the benefit of still having a rack to tie things down to is too appealing to pass up. The components will be similar between the two, the difference being the rack. I will update with more info as I have it.

Keep in mind my rates might be a bit better because of discounts with different shipping companies, but you can at least gauge what cost would be.

Yeah, I've seen that thread. I'd be spending a few hundred more to go that route (with shipping, etc). Not sure where he's located but I know a lot of members on here are in or near the southern california area and can save on shipping costs. I also get great rates on shipping through my company so could possibly save for those that need shipping from Los Angeles. I also import several containers of product from China every month for my day job so I'm familiar with the process.

I'm also at a 10 unit minimum on these prices so we wouldn't have to wait for an entire container to be filled before we got them. I'm glad Chandler did this for members. The prices being charged for the exact same thing are ridiculous. Even considering overhead, they're making 100% profit on each one.

For anyone that DIDN'T get in on Chandler's group buy, I'm offering another, basically.

Are these the same tents as Chandler's? I remember being on that GB thread but didn't realize it had already gone through.

Yeah, similar but not the same. The ones I'm going for have the hydraulic system covered with fabric, different lining on the interior, etc. They're all very similar though. I'm getting quotes for soft shell tents as well and will have those up as options.

As far as timing goes we can do one of two things. If I order a sample, check it, review it, post my thoughts on it and then we order after that, it should be around 2-3 months away. If everyone that is interested likes to gamble (which I wouldn't ask you to do) and says F it, let's order them now instead of waiting on the sample, it could be as soon as a month to 1.5 months.
If your decision is based on timing I would recommend using the 2-3 month timeline as a barometer, IMO.

I don't have the exact dimensions of the mattress but I will ask the manufacturer for that info. I figure it'll be a few cm shorter than the tent itself. The tent is 215cm(84.6in) x 145cm(57in) so maybe 210x140 or so? I'll get a firm number though.
I'm 6'3" and this is their largest tent with the hydraulic system.

There will not be any logos on the tent.

So, if I were to order just one unit (with annex) it's going to be in the $1000 range. Remove $150 for the annex if you don't want it. Not sure if that's something you're interested in considering there are group buys for these going for less. Keep in mind, I'm not sure what the quality of the other is compared to this one and the fact that they're ordering much more than a single unit and the price is definitely reflective of that.
